The new electronic health record system, MHS GENESIS, goes live March 25.

We will be impacted by delays during this transition for routine care, including impacts to physicals, prescriptions and referrals.

If you need any prescription refills between March 15 and May 1, please contact the clinic now so we can adjust your prescriptions.

If any referrals expire between March 15 and May 1, please contact us now to have the referrals renewed as we are anticipating delays in being able to answer routine issues.

In preparation for pharmacy impacts during the transition to MHS GENESIS, you can request early refills of non-controlled medications when you've used at least 50% of your current supply starting Feb. 25.

We're two months from our March 25 go-live for MHS GENESIS! See what you need to know to be prepared below:

We are just TWO MONTHS from launching MHS GENESIS, the new electronic health record! On March 25, we will go-live and we want you -- our patients -- to be prepared.

From approximately March 18-May 21, there will be up to 65% fewer available appointments while we test the technology and learn the new system. You should also expect that your first visit after go-live will take longer than usual while we enter your information into MHS GENESIS. Additional appointments will be added if the transition goes smoothly. In addition:

💊 The pharmacy will be busier than usual, so we recommend refilling medication early.
🔬 The lab will have increased wait times, so if you have a current lab order, visit the lab now.
📄 You should keep a hard copy of your referrals.
🖥 You'll get access to the new Patient Portal, which will replace the TRICARE Online Patient Portal.

MHS GENESIS will be implemented at each of our four health clinics. The result will be a better, more complete, more secure medical record across all of military medicine that will follow you wherever you go.

Our pharmacies will be half-staffed this Thursday, Jan. 26, and Friday, Jan. 27, due to mandatory training for our new electronic health records system, MHS GENESIS. There will be increased delays and wait times on both days.

Except for acute needs, we recommend filling prescriptions prior to Thursday, Jan. 26, or after Friday, Jan. 27. This will impact all three pharmacies at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Naval Support Facility Dahlgren and Naval Support Facility Indian Head (Naval Support Activity South Potomac). We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Pharmacy services will be impacted this Thursday and Friday due to MHS GENESIS training. Expect delays and increased wait times in person and on the phone. Patients should avoid the pharmacy during these times except for acute needs. Thank you for your patience.
