Healing After the Hurricanes and Loss
I wanted to update all of our wonderful clients and students, who have graced ZEN with their presence and support over the years. I want you all to know that I am ok and we are indeed getting back to full operations. Your continued love and support as we get moving would be greatly appreciated.
The Hurricanes
The 2 hurricanes that hit our home was nothing like we had ever experienced, especially Helene that brought high flood waters. it was extremely traumatizing. Here at ZEN along with other plaza businesses, and community friends quickly came together to help our citizens. For about 2 months ZEN became a Donation center as well as a place to get a hot meal, physical and emotional support for anyone who needed anything. As the weeks went by we would all begin to heal and rebuild.
Life Lost and Self Healing
I thought very long about including this for public knowledge. I ultimately decided to share because I wanted everyone to know that I didn't give up, I just needed time. As life was moving forward after the storms, my Sons and I lost my partner of almost 20 years. This happened at the end of December. His death was unexpected and truly devastating to our family. In the months that followed I felt a grief and sadness I had never experienced in my life. I could barely function. I had a lot of responsibilities, ZEN, My second job at Tjs, I was a City Commissioner, a very active person in my community. Ultimately I had to make a choice. I chose myself and my boys. It’s taken a lot of work to finally be able to express my situation and write this. In the weeks and months following this tremendous loss we would grieve multiple more lives lost. It was just a rough time.
Coming Back to ZEN
I know that some of you live here, some of you are seasonal visitors and I know I have missed your calls and messages. Some of you may have seen me at my other job, not knowing what was going on. I had to keep the bills paid. Being a Healer takes a lot of emotional strength as well as physical. Not to worry though, we are coming back. As I write this there is a therapist giving a massage for the first time in months. All gift cards even if expired will of course be honored. I just ask for understanding and patience. We have a lot of work to do here at ZEN to be fully operational.
I want to take this moment to Thank my Yoga Instructors Ginger and Tina who self started the Yoga Studio just to keep the energy flowing through this place. They even brought on a new instructor Aaliyah. Their love and support of myself, ZEN, and their students has brought me comfort and happiness during these hard times.
