Salser Celebration Choir

With the start of classes at IUP, we would like to express our congratulations and best wishes to the first awardee of the Scott A. Salser Memorial Scholarship, Sadie Juart. Sadie, a 2023 graduate of Marion Center High School, will be using the $500 scholarship towards studying music education at IUP. Sadie sent a thank you to all who donated to this scholarship: “I want to express my sincere gratitude to be given the opportunity of receiving the Scott A. Salser Memorial Scholarship. I plan on using this scholarship to further my academic status and become the best music educator I can be. It is so nice of you to commemorate the amazing legacy of Mr. Salser. I hope to continue his legacy of the important influence of music to my future students. Once again, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.”

The generosity of so many people made this scholarship possible. We greatly appreciate all who donated in order to perpetuate Scott’s passion for and commitment to music education. Over $10,000 was raised, ensuring the ability to award the scholarship indefinitely. No doubt Scott would be humbly grateful and honored by your outpouring of love and support. And if you see Sadie on campus, wish her well as she begins this new journey!

Choir,
We had an outstanding rehearsal this evening with about half of the choir. We’re looking forward to everyone being present tomorrow. Here are some final reminders about tomorrow:

Report time - 12:45 - enter through the MAIN ENTRANCE of the school.
Rehearsal start time - 1:00
Service start time - 3:00
Attire - black, white, red (we are working to ensure the AC is working, but it was very warm tonight. Please dress lightly so you don’t feel ill.)

Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during the service.

Hello choir,

We’re happy to say that we will rehearse tomorrow (Saturday) at 7:30pm at the junior high. Please park in parking lot near the gym and enter door 8. We will have someone standing there to let you in. If you need help getting in, please call or text Zack Karcher at 724-840-8578.

Even if you didn’t reply to the poll, all are welcome to attend tomorrow evening’s rehearsal. See you soon!

Hi All! If you haven’t already done so, please respond to the two documents we most recently posted. The one pinned at the top is to let us know if you will be at the Saturday evening practice. If it’s at all possible, please try to attend as it will make things so much easier on Sunday. The one below it is just to get some basic info so we can see what we our balance is like. If you messaged the page earlier, your responses have been transferred. Thanks for your help!

Here are some details for the upcoming service:
- We will be rehearsing in the Junior High auditorium on Saturday evening beginning at 7:30 for whoever can make it.
- There will be another rehearsal on Sunday at 1:00, prior to the start of the service. We ask that you arrive early enough to be ready to begin promptly as time will be limited.
- Black, white and red is the color scheme for attire. Wear comfortable shoes.
- There will be a reception in the cafeteria following the service. Please plan to stay and enjoy refreshments while enjoying pictures from the choir room over the years.
- We currently have 75 members in the choir! It’s not too late for people to sign up. Encourage your A Ca****la friends to be a part of this, especially if they are guys. It would be so great to have 100 voices!
- If you could help us out by entering your info into the posted spreadsheet it would be greatly appreciated. We apologize for having you do this twice. It will make it much easier for us to stay organized. Thank you.

There seems to still be a problem with accessing Cantique, so I am posting a link to a video instead of one from Scott’s concert. I specifically selected this video in hopes that everyone could better hear their select voice part. This will be performed in French. There are obviously a number of other recordings on YouTube if you wish to listen to a larger ensemble perform it. I apologize for the inconvenience.

There are now sound files on the page with the scores for the selections the celebration choir is singing. These are recordings from Scott's concerts. The link below will get you there.

Jasmine Jenkins will be joining us to sing the solos in He Never Failed Me Yet and Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Joe and Phillip will be back to accompany these songs as they did on the recordings. He Never Failed Me Yet (2) is the one with them playing.

Please spread the word that more singers are needed, especially men. Remember that real music will be available. Music teachers as well as IHS A Ca****la Choir alumni are welcome.
