If you make one change this year...make it your default emotional state.
We really only experience 1 emotional state at a time and with that there's an intensity that we feel it in. The problem most people have is that their default emotional state is not a good one, and because of that they really can't make changes in their lives that they plan for...because the emotional state won't allow for it.
If your default state is sadness and an intensity of say 7, you might experience a happy event that could shift you out for a brief time, but because of the high intensity sadness as your default state, you might only experience that happiness for a few minutes at a level of 2...where as someone in a better default state would experience it for days at an intensity of 9.
There are times where an event happens that's so powerful that your state changes and stays there--good and bad--but when yo want to change, you can't count on an event to do this for you...you have to do it yourself!
You need to decide what you want your default state to be and work every day to anchor that in. Hypnotherapy is great for this, because it can help re-write past events that created the state you're in, and to imprint new ideas to reset your default state to what you want it to be.
The first step for change is to realize what your current state is and at what intensity you generally experience it at. Then decide on what you want your new default state to be, and work at consciously thinking only about things that can create that feeling in the body. There will be times that the old default will overpower the new default you're trying to bring in, so work at turning down the intensity of the old default, and once lowered, go back to the new emotional default that you desire to be in its place instead!
