Intrigued by Monday's post highlighting our spinal decompression protocol but want to know just a little more about it before diving into a consultation? This post is for you!
🌟What is true spinal decompression and how does it work?
The DRX 9000 spinal decompression machine creates an environment of negative pressure that gently separates the vertebrae and allows the intervertebral disc to retract back into place. This allows for rehydration of the disc and better nutrient flow within. True spinal decompression uses a targeted treatment approach that allows us to specify the specific disc/discs with issue and has a precisely calculated pull based on your specific body weight, unlike generic traction.
🌟 Is spinal decompression painful?
No! Spinal decompression is a non-invasive treatment protocol. Through the use of an advanced computer system, the motor is constantly (several thousand times per second) monitored to ensure that the correct amount of force is being applied and the split-level bed reduces friction and improves comfort during the treatment process. Many of our patients actually find it relaxing!
🌟 How long does treatment take?
Each treatment session begins with 10 minutes of moist heat to help relax the muscles surrounding the vertebrae followed by 28 minutes on the DRX 9000 machine. Once treatment on the machine is finished, we provide our patients with 15 minutes of STIM therapy and 6 minutes of ultrasound therapy before finishing the appointment off with a chiropractic adjustment. All in all, the entire appointment lasts for approximately 1 hour.
🌟How many visits does it take?
Each case is different based on severity of issue and number of discs involved. However, on average, the treatment course requires 20-30 visits over the course of 6-8 weeks.
🌟What is the success rate?
The success rate for those who complete the protocol in its entirety is 88-92%. Yes, you read that right - an 88-92% SUCCESS rate! (Did you know back surgery only has a 60 % success rate?)
