IHS Green Bandana Project will be hosting “Light Up the Dark” inside the Senior High on 10/29 from 6-8 p.m: 🙂free, family-friendly K-12 event 🎃with trick-or-treating🎯games 🧩activities, live characters, and fun Halloween-themed experiences—all while promoting a positive message about mental health!

Join us for our first annual “Light Up the Dark” night on Wednesday, October 29 from 6-8 p.m. “Light Up the Dark” is a free, family-friendly event for all IASD students and their families. The evening will include trick-or-treating, games, activities, live characters, and fun Halloween-themed experiences—all while promoting a positive message about mental health.

Green Bandana’s mission is to create a safe, memorable night that helps end the stigma surrounding mental health while giving kids a chance to celebrate the spooky season. Stop by IHS for a frighteningly fun night!

We are SO GRATEFUL for the support of the United Way this school year!

IHS and IASD are honored to share that the Indiana Senior High School branch of the Green Bandana Project has been awarded a $1,000 United Way of Indiana County 2025 Grant to support their 2025-2026 initiatives.

The Green Bandana Project increases student awareness of school-based mental health and su***de prevention resources and empowers students to seek help when they need it. Green Bandana members wear a green bandana on their backpacks so other students know who to look to for help and support. These members will work to help connect students in need with the proper support systems and resources.

Last school year, the Green Bandana Project hosted various activities within the school, including but not limited to, an Easter egg hunt, therapy dog visits, apparel promotion, and more. The project is looking to expand their initiatives this school year with the help of the United Way.

Today, members of the Green Bandana Project attended Prevention Connection Day hosted by the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission (AICDAC). Students had the opportunity to network with other students in the tri-county area about preventative practices regarding drug, alcohol, and gambling abuse. They also had the opportunity to take part in a self-care activity that included planting succulents!
