Chiropractic: Chronic Neck Pain Affects Balance.

Examinations of 120 older adults (half with chronic neck pain) revealed that chronic neck pain is associated with both reduced functional balance and cervical proprioception—the body's ability to sense where its various parts are in relation to one another for purposes of movement and balance.

Treatment for Rotator Cuff Disease.

Rotator cuff disease is a group of conditions affecting the tendons and muscles of the shoulder, ranging from inflammation and degeneration to partial or full-thickness tears. A recent study that included 45 rotator cuff patients found mobilization therapy is an effective intervention for improving function, range of motion, and quality of life. Doctors of chiropractic are trained in the application of several forms of manual therapy, including mobilization.

Treatment for Chronic Low Back Pain.

Among a group of 40 chronic low back pain patients, researchers observed that a single session of myofascial release technique—a manual therapy that involves applying sustained, gentle pressure to the myofascial connective tissue—resulted in immediate improvements in low back pain and flexibility. Doctors of chiropractic often use myofascial release and other manual therapies when managing patients with chronic low back pain.
