The fundraising t-shirts turned out great! It was a late night at our house sorting and bagging all of these! They were worn at the Dragon’s football game which had a patriotic theme. 🇺🇸

The New Palestine Dragons fundraiser was a success! Mattingly is raising money to buy items for her care packages that she plans to pass out at the ALS Association’s Walk to Defeat ALS.

Mattingly, a senior at New Palestine High School, has organized a fundraiser so she can purchase items for her care packages. She is passing out her care packages at the ALS Association's Walk to Defeat ALS on September 20 and has committed to dropping off 20 bags to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. There will be more opportunities along the way this year. She is selling a Friday Night Lights t-shirt to go with the patriotic theme for the football game against New Palestine High School and Mt. Vernon High School on September 12. We are hoping everyone will wear the t-shirt to the game. Student council is helping to facilitate the effort. I have attached a letter with a link to a google form. Payment can be made by using Venmo or cash. If the link does not cooperate, feel free to respond to this post with your order.

Shirts are $15 and orders are due: Thursday, September 4

Mattingly presented her fundraiser for ALS care packages at New Palestine Elementary School’s Student Council meeting. She is selling t-shirts to wear on September 12 to FNL at the New Palestine vs. Mt. Vernon football game. Hopefully, she will make enough money to fill bags for the ALS Association’s Walk to Defeat ALS on September 20.

We received a shipment today! Mattingly is collecting supplies to fill her ALS care packages for an upcoming hospital visit. She is also planning a big surprise at the ALS Association’s Walk to Defeat ALS in September. These beautiful quilts were donated from Hopes and Dreams Quilt Challenge for ALS from Virginia Beach, VA. Kathy, the founder, lost her son to ALS in 2020 and she started this wonderful organization. Thank you, Hopes and Dreams! 🩵💛🩵💛🩵💛

Matti was invited by her cousin, Ava, an Occupational Therapist, to deliver an ALS care package to her patient at IU Hospital this morning. 💛

A little background……when Matti was in the 5th grade she was to come up with a passion project as a school assignment. She decided she wanted to deliver 100 care packages to ALS patients in Indiana. We had recently lost her Grammy to this terrible disease. We asked & were allowed to deliver them to the ALS multidisciplinary clinic at the neuroscience center where Dr. Pascuzzi (Grammy’s doctor) was the medical director. They graciously invited us for lunch that day in the conference room & when we arrived, they had assembled a group of doctors not only for lunch but to listen to Matti’s school presentation. I watched my 11 year old articulately explain her reasons for her project, describe what was in her care package & how it would benefit the patient.

I later found out her “passion project” was not supposed to be executed-only a plan was required to be displayed (like a poster) for the teacher/students in her class.

Later that year, a care package recipient from North Manchester, Jerry Stan Williams, encouraged her to continue making the bags & his friends & family assisted with funding the NEXT 100 packages. Stan’s loving words of encouragement made such an impact on her! 💛

Since then she has delivered packages to Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles and is organizing a trip to Rush Chicago and Beth Israel in Boston. This is how and the why her 5th grade project has become a seven year on-going mission! Go Matti!

Mattingly along with her family delivered care packages to the Cedars Sinai ALS multidisciplinary clinic. We met with Dr. Diaz and his assistant. What a blessing to meet such caring group of doctors and nurses. 🩵🩵🩵

Mattingly is putting together bags to deliver to Cedars Sinai ALS clinic in Los Angeles over spring break. We are in need of blankets this go around. I plan to oder them from Amazon have have them shipped there to avoid airline baggage fees.
