Columbus, IN (April 18, 2026) - One man has been hospitalized after a vehicle crash on Third Street on Friday. Officers with the Columbus Police Department (Indiana) and other first responders were called to the Third Street Bridge near West State Road 46 and State Road 11 for a personal injury accident.

Officers, firefighters, and emergency medical services rushed to the scene. They found that a 2009 Harley - Davidson motorcycle and a 2013 Toyota SUV had collided.

The 52-year-old male driver of the motorcycle had significant injuries to his legs and possible injuries to his head. Officers immediately began to render aid until medical personnel took over care. The man was transported by helicopter to an Indianapolis-area hospital for further treatment.

The 48-year-old female driver of the SUV was not injured. State Road 46 was closed for approximately an hour while the scene was being investigated and cleaned up.

Indianapolis, IN (April 17, 2026 - A motorcyclist died in a crash near the 3300 block of North College Avenue. Police said a motorcycle and a black sedan had been involved in a crash. The motorcycle rider was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.

The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. She was taken to an area hospital for a blood draw, which is standard procedure in serious or fatal crashes. She showed no signs of impairment or intoxication, police said.

It appeared both vehicles were heading northbound on North College Avenue at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

Ripley County, IN (April 14, 2026 - The Ripley County Sheriff's responded to a three-vehicle accident on State Road 129 near the Delaware Fire Department on Monday.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Estelle Road when a vehicle attempting to make a left turn was struck in the rear by an approaching vehicle. The impact of the crash caused the first vehicle to travel into the path of a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, John C. Jones, of Milan, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a contributing factor.
