Our beloved Sarah is moving on to her next adventure. She will be deeply missed, but we wish her all the best.

Unfortunately, this leaves an empty spot at Zen Penguin Wellness. We are looking for a massage therapist or body worker who is ready to grow their practice and be their own boss. You hold the key 🔑and we have a lovely co-working space available for sublease. The space is available 7 days per week, but you get to set your schedule and have total control. For those that don’t know, TJ Watt is a linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers (NFL team). He received dry needling by one of the medical staff (unnamed) and then suffered a partially collapsed lung from the apparent incorrect technique that was used.

This is WHY it is SO important to see a licensed acupuncturist who is generally the most qualified to needle you and not another medical professional who does not have nearly enough training in needling!

Most people don’t know that those performing dry needling may only be taking a weekend seminar and are NOT required to take any tests that show proficiency. They can then perform dry needling and even get reimbursed by insurance. Whereas licensed acupuncturists go through 4 years of training, must show proficiency in needling through testing and also pass state + national board exams before they are able to treat patients.

Can dry needling be helpful? Absolutely! But please ask the questions before you let someone needle you. And understand that most acupuncturists know how to utilize dry needling, but we don’t always need to because there are other tools in the bag. Knowing is half the battle and your health deserves the best available option(s).
