Halloween should be fun for every kid — but spooky sounds, scratchy costumes, and bright lights can sometimes be overwhelming.

Here are a few ways to help make the night full of smiles (and fewer frights!):

💜 Create a quiet “chill zone” for breaks
🖤 Go early or find calm “trunk-or-treat” events

- Comfort first – Let your child choose a costume that feels good (soft fabrics, no tags or masks if bothersome).
- Go early or late – Trick-or-treat during quieter hours to avoid crowds and loud noises.
- Plan your route – Visit familiar neighbors or sensory-friendly events.
- Bring supports – Headphones, fidget toys, or a comfort item can make a big difference.
- Practice scripts – If your child uses AAC or needs prompts, practice saying “trick or treat” or using visuals.
- Go at their pace – It’s okay to skip houses or head home early — fun looks different for every child!
