ISMA successfully advanced key priorities while stopping legislation that could negatively impact the practice of medicine. Physician advocacy made a difference at the Statehouse this year.

Thank you to the physicians who engaged, contacted lawmakers, and shared their expertise during the session.

Your voice matters in shaping health policy in Indiana.

With Daylight Saving Time beginning on Sunday (3/8), the extra sunshine and boost of vitamin D may be a relief from the dark winter days and a sign of warmer weather ahead! ☀️

Minimize the effect of the time change by:
- Going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night before the time change
- Transitioning the timing of daily routines that are “time cues” for your body (like eating or exercising)
- Getting outside for some early morning sunlight on Sunday -- the bright light will help set your “body clock"
- Sticking to your bedtime on Sunday night to get plenty of sleep before the workweek begins

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers among adults, but it can be prevented with routine screening. On-time screening tests can find polyps before they turn into cancer. Talk to your doctor if you have questions about screening!

Here are some of the numbers in Indiana:
- Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer among both males and females in Indiana
- Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of all deaths among males in Indiana
- The lifetime risk of developing colorectal cancer is 1 in 26 for females and 1 in 24 for males

Indiana has become the first state in the nation to pass
bipartisan legislation protecting patient access to timely, medically necessary care by prohibiting insurance companies from imposing financial penalties on hospitals and facilities when a patient’s care
involves an out-of-network provider. Thanks to our partners!
