Look, I love the Super Bowl as much as anyone, but as your local first responder, I am officially asking you to act right today.

It is freezing outside, the wings are spicy, and the stakes are high—but let’s not make me a part of your halftime show. Here’s the "Playbook" for a safe Sunday:

Hydrate between the "celebratory" beverages. If you start seeing three footballs on the screen, you’re not a quarterback; you’re just dehydrated.

The sidewalk is not a "slip-and-slide." It’s 10 degrees out. I promise you, gravity wins every time on black ice. Don't pull a hamstring trying to show the kids your "glory days" touchdown dance in the driveway.

Keep the "heated" debates to the game. If your team loses, scream into a pillow, not at your blood pressure. I’d much rather stay in the warm station eating my own chili than come check your chest pains because of a bad officiating call.

Designated Drivers are the real MVPs. Don't make us come get you out of a ditch. The only thing colder than the weather today is the seat of a squad car.

Let’s keep the sirens off and the TV volume up. Enjoy the game, stay warm, and please—don't give me a reason to meet you today. 🚑💨
