Tired eyes? You might just need a break! 😴
Long days, bright screens, and late nights can all take a toll on your eyes. Here’s how to rest and refresh them:

💧 Blink often to prevent dryness
💻 Limit screen time before bed
🌙 Get enough sleep — your eyes repair overnight

A little rest goes a long way toward keeping your eyes comfortable and your vision sharp!

Halloween is almost here! 👻 Costumes and makeup can be fun, but those spooky colored contacts might not be as harmless as they look.

Did you know all contact lenses — even decorative ones — require a prescription in the U.S.?

Buying them from a costume shop or unverified online seller can expose you to serious risks like eye pain, infections, and even permanent vision loss.

Pro Tip: If you want to add contacts to your costume, talk to your eye doctor first. Safe eyes = a safe Halloween!

Dry eyes? You’re not alone!

Many of us experience dryness and irritation from everyday habits like blinking less while staring at screens, spending long hours on computers or phones, and even being in air-conditioned or heated environments. Over time, these factors can make your eyes uncomfortable, red, or blurry.

Staying hydrated, taking regular screen breaks, and using artificial tears can help, but persistent dry eye may signal an underlying issue that deserves attention. 👁️
Don’t wait — schedule an eye exam with us to find the cause and get relief for healthier, more comfortable eyes!

Our Story

When Dr. Kimberly Forniss was 12 years old living in Denver, CO someone asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up. Dr. Forniss had picked up a magazine about opt0metry that caught her attention and she also had a very good eye doctor who was a female. Seeing first hand a female optometrist do so well at that time she said “I wanna be like her.” To her, the eyes are physically the most important attribute to a person’s anatomy.

Dr. Forniss went on to college and knew exactly what path to take! She went to Xavier University of Louisiana where she finished in 3 years. After successfully finishing her undergrad she went to optometry school at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. During her fourth year Dr. Forniss did her internship with Dr. Gloria Jennings which is the same office that she currently owns and operates. Even back then she’d say “When I retire I want to pass this to someone like you.”

After graduating Dr. Forniss moved to Indianapolis where she worked at Sears Optical, then Walmart optical, and with Dr. Jennings a couple days throughout the week. Dr. Jennings sold the practice in 2002, and Dr. Forniss bought it January 10th of 2003! Since day one her motto has been The Golden Rule. Forniss Optometric prides itself in treating everyone like they are someone in their family. They give people their best service and treat them well. Forniss Optometric cares about you as a person and more than just your eyes.

Thank you for reading, we’ll see you soon. :)
