Visitor restrictions are in effect starting Monday, December 22 to help prevent the spread of respiratory infections, like the flu. If you're planning a visit at one of the Community Health Network hospitals or Cancer Centers, please ensure the following guidelines are met:
✅ No visitors under age 18
✅ Visitors are to be limited to patient’s immediate family or as identified by patient
✅ No more than two visitors at a time per patient
✅ Visitors must wear masks in patient rooms when requested
✅ Those with respiratory symptoms may not visit

The Caregiver Engagement Council at Community Hospital North would like to thank everyone who donated to our Home for the Holidays Food Drive for the Community Cupboard of Lawrence. Our teams delivered 125 boxes and bags of food and personal care items. Thank you for your generosity and kindness!

Congratulations to Kelley Barresi, a Registered Nurse at Community Hospital North. Kelley was recently named a Community All-Star by our North Caregiver Engagement Council. Kelley was nominated by one of her patients who said they wanted to convey their sincere appreciation for Kelley's professionalism. The patient said they were extremely impressed with Kelley's care.

Please join us on December 1 as we celebrate the fight to end the HIV epidemic on World AIDS Day. We’ll be offering free HIV testing at the Infectious Disease Office located within the 7250 building at Community Hospital North. This free test only takes one minute to process, and is given by a trained HIV specialist. Our specialists will help you make a risk reduction plan as well. These tests are completely confidential and come with no judgement, just information on how to prevent HIV.

We encourage you to join our Ryan White Services team at Community in honoring individuals who have passed, as well as celebrating the progress made in combatting the virus. Remember that testing is prevention, and the earlier the diagnosis the better the outcome.

Testing hours are on December 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the 7250 building located within Community Hospital North.

Jessica Jones, the mother of one of our NICU graduates, is celebrating her son's memory in a special way by showing love and support to other NICU families during the holidays. Jace Jones would have turned 4 years old on October 30. Jace was in the NICU at Community Hospital North for 66 days. After leaving the NICU, Jessica said her son was later hospitalized and passed away at 7 months old. In Jace’s honor, Jessica and her family chose to start a yearly fundraiser in his name for his birthday. They use donations to assemble care packages for families who will be spending the holidays with their babies in the NICU. The baskets were filled with gift cards, baby items, and a lot of love.

Congratulations to Gabby Green! Gabby is the recipient of the PHIL Award from The FACES Foundation. Gabby is a Respiratory Therapist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Community Hospital North. PHIL is an acronym for Pulmonary Health and Illnesses of the Lungs. The PHIL Award is given to a respiratory therapist who has provided outstanding care and treatment to patients with pulmonary illnesses. Gabby was nominated by the father of one of our tiny patients.

Teams at Community Hospital North are celebrating Halloween with our NICU babies and their families. One of our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurses made dozens of tiny costumes for our little patients! It is a tradition close to our caregivers' hearts. They love celebrating these little bundles of joy every chance they get! We hope you enjoy these photos!

Our community is taking action! 🙌 Today, neighbors brought their expired and unneeded prescriptions and other medications to our Drug Take Back event at Community Health Network MD Anderson Cancer Center North. 💊 Working together, we collected about 240 pounds of medication - getting them out of homes for safe disposal. Together, we’re making our neighborhoods safer and stronger. ❤️

Stop by tomorrow with your unused, expired or unwanted medications! We can take prescriptions, over the counter medications, liquid medications, vitamins and pet medicine. We'll be outside the main entrance of the cancer center on October 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 🏥 We hope to see you there!
