❤️Heart Month Heart Health Tip: 📝150 minutes of moderate activity (meaning you're breathing harder than usual, but you can still hold a conversation) per week can improve your heart health: helping your heart to work more efficiently, reducing your resting heart rate, lowering blood pressure, and reducing the risk of cardiac events. 📉

That can break down to roughly 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. ⌚ A brisk walk, bike ride, run (at a conversational pace) can all give you the same effect. We know it isn't always easy to start from scratch or improve your activity, which is why we work with our patients and wellness clients to safely begin or increase activity. If you need help getting active, come in and talk to our expert physical therapists! 👋

❤️Heart Month Heart Health Tip❤️: One of the BEST things you can do for your heart health is to avoid to***co products. Smoking, va**ng, & chewing to***co can all impact your heart health. Quitting isn't easy, but it's worth it. ❤️

If you're a cardiac patient, physical therapy can help you return to activity safely. Many patients with heart conditions also have other physical challenges: back pain, knee replacements, limited mobility or something else.

During your initial evaluation, you'll talk with your physical therapist about your total health and your provider will design a safe and effective home exercise plan designed to improve your movement and mobility. We treat the ENTIRE patient, not just your new knee or your sore back!

❤️ Heart month heart health tips ❤️ We have evidence of heart disease in ancient mummies, so it isn't a new problem for humans. One factor we can control that helps improve heart health is also one MOST of us struggle with: sleep. 🥱 We either don't get enough sleep or it isn't good quality sleep. Lots of factors affect sleep: stress, hormones, devices, etc. But IMPROVING sleep can:
❤️Reduce the risk of high blood pressure
❤️Reduce overall inflammation
❤️Reduce the risk of heart failure
❤️Reduce stroke risk
That's a pretty good argument to target better sleep hygiene! 🎯How?
😴Eliminate extra light in your bedroom
😴Keep your bedroom comfortably cool
😴Engage in relaxing activities before bed (reading a book instead of scrolling on your phone)
😴Turn off blue light one hour before bed (TV, phone, devices)
😴Set a healthy bedtime routine every night (not just when you're tired)
😴Check with your care team if you have concerns
