Adapted Movement Programs at IU Indianapolis

Adapted Movement Programs at IU Indianapolis Transforming lives and empowering individuals with disabilities through adapted physical activity.

If you are looking for family-centered adapted movement programs in the greater Indianapolis community to help yourself, someone in your family, or a friend to improve their overall physical, cognitive, and/or social function, you have found a great resource! The IUPUI School of Health & Human Science’s Adapted Movement Programs (AMP) help people lead more active lifestyles. We strive to transform lives and empower individuals with disabilities or limited mobility through adapted physical activity. Clients of all ages and abilities work individually with IUPUI kinesiology students who are obtaining real-world experiences while tailoring adapted movement options for those who need them most. Activities are delivered through four different programs and include:
-General activities to enhance coordination and strength
-Music and dance for creativity and coordination
-Puzzles for visual stimulation and fine motor skills
-Group activities and games for team work, skill enhancement, and fun
-Bike riding to increase endurance and low limb strength
-Obstacle courses/challenge courses to help with problem-solving skills
-Ball activities (e.g., catching, throwing, softball, etc.) to enhance coordination and direction
-Basketball
-Crafts
-Swimming
