Roudebush VA Medical Center, is located in Indianapolis, and offers a wide range of medical services, including emergency care, inpatient and outpatient services, mental health services, and specialized programs that meet the needs of all Veterans. Carlos “Chuck” Norris (March 10, 1940 – March 19, 2026) was more than a martial arts legend and Hollywood action star—he was a proud Veteran. Enlisting in the Air Force in 1958, he served as an air policeman at Osan Air Base in South Korea, where he earned the nickname “Chuck” and began training in Tang Soo Do. The discipline, courage, and resilience he honed in uniform stayed with him throughout his life, shaping both his competitive martial arts career and his larger-than-life presence on screen.

Even as he became a household name, Norris never forgot his fellow service members. He dedicated his Missing in Action films to his brother Wieland, who was killed in Vietnam, and was honored as Air Force Veteran of the Year, an honorary U.S. Marine, and an honorary Texas Ranger. Chuck Norris passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at 86, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, and unwavering dedication to his country.

Veteran Health Indiana (VHI) improves the health of the men and women who have so proudly served our nation. We receive Veterans from across the Hoosier State and referrals from Illinois. The Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis is the flagship tertiary care facility for VHI, the home base for a comprehensive system of inpatient and outpatient care across Indiana. We’re expanding even more - a new 80,000 sq. ft. facility in Brownsburg will serve 20,000 Veterans yearly. We have several active VA Clinics in strategic placement for the convenience of our patients - see Community Directory for more information.
