Researchers from Regenstrief Institute, IU School of Medicine, Eskenazi Health, University of Miami and Lamar University have demonstrated that a zero-cost, AI-driven digital approach can detect Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) — without adding time to a clinician's workload.

The open-source "passive digital marker," developed at Regenstrief by Malaz Boustani, M.D., MPH, and colleagues, represents a scalable step forward in bringing ADRD early detection into everyday primary care.

During the LOINC® Conference in Montreal, the Global Health Informatics team introduced the first open-source, AI-enabled platform designed to tackle the terminology mapping bottleneck in digital health projects. Open Concept Lab (OCL) Mapper, the beta web-based tool, helps users map health data to standard terminologies like LOINC, supporting resource-constrained settings and low- and middle-income countries.

The tool was developed with partnership from the Regenstrief Health Data Standards team and with global partners such as the Open Concept Lab community, OpenMRS, Madiro, MSF (Doctors without Borders) and others.
