3 nights in a row with very little sleep this week. Yesterday, Ava had high fevers, lethargic and just didn’t seem herself. After negative flu, covid and strep tests and being told by a couple healthcare providers that we could wait to see how she feels, we made the decision to take her to the ER.
After antibiotics and fluids, her temp came down almost 4 degrees and heart rate from 146 to 102. She had a viral infection and her white blood cells were trying to take care of business. As much as she hates going to the ER, especially after the first terrible infection in 2024 that landed her there for a week and could’ve gone the wrong way quickly, she recognized that she needed to go. As always, she was tough, answered all the doctors questions including notable dates of past treatment, and advocated for herself regarding her care preferences. We got home after 3am and she’s still recovering but thankful it didn’t take a turn for the worse. Thanks for your support and please keep praying. Ava deserves so many good things 💛🎗️🙏🏼

Results are in. As most of you probably already know from just Ava’s story alone, Ewings sarcoma is vicious. It’s an aggressive, unpredictable, and apparently rare disease that can come back at any time. People who have this never feel safe.
But for today… we can breathe a little easier. Her oncologist called saying there is no evidence of disease in her body. Hopefully radiation did the job after chemo started the fight. We get another three months of living life to the fullest before we find out what the comparison is after all treatment to before this relapse. Thank you to everyone for all the prayers. We need them more and more and are grateful for all of our support. thank you, Jesus! Ava is beyond amazing.

Ava was able to get away for a few days before scans this Friday. We always say she’s tougher than the rest of us and it’s true. Watching her tackle waves, fly through the sky from a boat and play cards like a pro is incredible. Most people walk by her never knowing what she’s going through physically and mentally. Thankful for every good moment together, but there is a great unknown future right around the corner. Please please please. A million prayers are needed. Jesus, help this girl 🙏🏼💛✝️

We are so thankful radiation finished before the snow storm! Our radiation doctor told Ava that she would be extremely tired for a week or two after the last session and he was right. But she was able to catch up on lots of sleep and rest this week while her red hair grows back in. ❤️
Hoping for more energy next week 🙏🏼

January 21. The last day of radiation out of 31 exhausting sessions. Ava has completed her entire relapse treatment plan like the champ she is. She has been through more than most people ever will but remains the same good person. Thanks to the amazing staff and our favorite valet friends for treating Ava so well. The dreaded scan day is scheduled for February 27. We have 37 days to enjoy before then. As always, we beg for prayers for good results. Thank you to every single person for every kind act 💛 🙏🏼🎗️

The last Friday of radiation. 3 days to go. We are all tired but Ava continues to complain the least 😆 Today, she chose the lone mastodon in the gift shop. Strong, independent but still needing love 🤎 sounds familiar 💛

January 14.
Nobody says Happy Diagnosis Day. It’s a reminder of how your entire life can change so drastically in a matter of moments. Every decision, every reaction and every reason for doing what we do has been affected by this one day. Yes, it’s been difficult and emotional and sad. But again, it’s shown us both what is important and all the things that are so not important. We are living in a new era of purposefully enjoying our time and loving each other 💛
