Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

His words continue to challenge and inspire us to look beyond ourselves and care for one another, especially those who are most vulnerable.

At Ascension St. Vincent, we live this call by caring for our neighbors and walking alongside individuals and families across our community.

Talk about a bright night! ✨

Two of our amazing Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital patients had the special honor of "Flipping the Switch" to light the 50-foot Merry and Bright Tree, officially kicking off Christmas at the Indianapolis Zoo !

Meet our tree-lighting stars:

🎄 Chloe: A resilient 6-year-old who has been a patient since birth. After overcoming end-stage renal disease and a kidney transplant in 2022, she continues to charm everyone with her infectious personality!

🎄 Walker: A courageous young hero who recently rang the bell after finishing treatment for a rare and aggressive kidney cancer. Whether dressed as Spider-Man or cheering on his favorite teams, Walker’s strength is truly remarkable!

Great work, Chloe and Walker! You lit up the night and continue to inspire us every day. 🎄💙

Traveling with a little one this holiday season? 🚗✈️

Whether you’re staying with family or at a hotel, maintaining safe sleep habits is the best gift you can give your baby.

Natalie Wilzbacher, a Pediatric Nurse Educator at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville, reminds us that while the environment changes, the ABC’s of Safe Sleep stay the same:

Alone: Your baby needs their own sleep space, free from blankets or pillows.
Back: Always place them on their back for every nap and night.
Crib: Use a firm, flat surface like a crib, bassinet, or portable playard.

Check out the full article for pro tips on creative (but safe!) travel solutions and what items to avoid while on the road.

Talk about a big stage! Downtown Indianapolis was buzzing as two of our amazing kids took the field as Big Ten Honorary Kid Captains.

Meet our game-day stars:

🏈 Emery (Team Indiana University): A coding pro who has bravely overcome more than 100 broken bones due to brittle bone disease. Thanks to surgeries, Emery is experiencing fewer fractures and living his best life.

🏈 Mikal (Team Ohio State): After surviving a severe car crash and spending months in the PICU, Mikal showed incredible grit by walking onto the field without assistance! He is working hard in rehab and getting ready to head back to school with his friends.

From custom swag bags to seeing their stories on the big screen, these two truly stole the show. Way to go, Emery and Mikal! 🏈
