Jonathan visited quite a few places throughout his life, but his most memorable trip was to Cape Town, South Africa. While there, he felt privileged to visit Robben Island, the site where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years of imprisonment. Jonathan learned that Mandela was released from Robben Island on Feb. 11th in 1990.

As a young man from Indiana, he felt very fortunate to visit another country in 209. What he didn’t expect was to feel so changed by his visit, feeling a strong sense of belonging and connection during his visit. The feeling was so impactful that Jonathan says he would love to live in South Africa.
