Construction workers face some of the highest risks in the workforce, not just on the job site, but beyond it. They are 5x more likely to die by su***de, a reality we cannot ignore.

At DKY Foundation, we are committed to breaking the silence around mental health in construction by raising awareness, supporting open conversations, and connecting workers to resources that can help. Behind every hard hat is a person who matters.

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available. You are not alone.

Hungry. Angry. Lonely. Tired.

H.A.L.T is a simple acronym that highlights four of the most common stressors and how they can impact mental health and increase su***de risk. Recognizing these signs early can help us pause, check in, and support one another.

We had an incredible day partnering with The Proper Group for a DKY Foundation workshop centered on shaping our 2026 goals, vision, and strategic priorities.

Through thoughtful discussion and collaboration, our team aligned on what’s ahead, identified key opportunities for impact, and strengthened the foundation for continued growth. Bringing everyone together in this way not only clarified our path forward, but reinforced the shared purpose that drives our work.

We’re energized by the momentum coming out of this session and excited to turn these ideas into action.

Changing the conversation around mental health in construction starts with leadership and action. DKY Founder, Staci Inskeep, recently connected with the InPwr team to share resources and reinforce the importance of supporting the mental well-being of those who power our industry.

As Staci shared, "Construction workers are five times more likely to lose their lives to su***de than the general population. Through the DKY Foundation, we’ve raised funds, trained hundreds in su***de prevention, and launched awareness campaigns. It’s a cause close to my heart, and one I believe should be woven into the DNA of our industry moving forward.”

Conversations like this help move our industry forward, reminding us that taking care of our people is just as important as the work we do.

ASK. LISTEN. ACT.

Talking about su***de will not put the idea in someone’s head, but avoiding the conversation could leave someone feeling alone.

At DKY Foundation, we believe awareness leads to action. When we ask the hard questions, listen without judgment, and take steps to connect someone to support, we create space for hope.

You don’t have to be a professional to make a difference. You just have to be willing to show up.

Learn more about how you can be part of the conversation at dkyfoundation.org.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 in the U.S. for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐛, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫.

In construction, long hours and tight deadlines can take a toll. Today is a reminder to pause, take a breath, and check in with yourself and your crew.

Talk about what’s on your mind. Take short breaks. Support one another.

At DKY Foundation, we’re here to help our industry manage stress before it becomes overwhelming, because mental health matters just as much as physical safety.
