HSU does not participate in this waiver program but Residential Services Inc. and Etelcare serve these clients who are profoundly affected by the lack of caregiver resources. This is a compelling commentary from a father of a special-needs child.

The problem is that you cannot “avoid institutionalization” by weakening the only thing holding many homes together: caregivers.

Our sympathies to the Baird family on the loss of Danise. Danise was a pioneer and leader in Indiana Home Health Care and served on the Board of Directors for IAHHC and gave wise council and $ Support to our cause. She will be missed by us old-timers in Homecare.

Thank you to all of you who used the link to send a message to the Indiana Legislature to stop the removal of the ban on rate cuts to home care providers.

In all, homecare workers, patients, and families sent over 10,000 messages in a 2-week period! This got the attention of legislators.

At this week's Ways and Means hearing, SB 275 was passed out of the Committee with the Home Care Association's language included. The group worked until the 11th hour with Rep. Lopez and other members of the Ways and Means Committee and House on this effort. The language continues our protections until 2027 (which gives us the 2027 session to address any issues) and directs FSSA to work with us on a reimbursement solution going forward. This is a big win and will set us up to avoid any issues that we might have encountered with a Conference Committee at the end of the session.

Please Help Protect Home Health Care in Indiana

SB 275, which will be heard next Wednesday in the House Ways and Means Committee, contains language that would remove protections against rate cuts to home health agencies. This clearly indicates that FSSA intends to reduce Home Health rates very soon after the passage of the bill.

With the continued Pathways issues and challenges with MCEs, we are asking you to reach out to your elected officials to oppose this language. You can participate with just a few clicks.

Our goal for this campaign is 10,000 points of contact. That will show clearly to the General Assembly how important this is.

Our office is closed Thursday and Friday but we are so thankful for our professional caregivers who are visiting our patients and clients. We are also thankful to all the families who entrust the care of their loved ones to us.

Thank you everyone who attended the Partners in Healthcare Indy monthly luncheon at Westside Garden Plaza on October 23rd. We had great food, door prizes, networking and a presentation by the Parkinson's Association.
