Hoosier Senior Solutions

Hoosier Senior Solutions We work with families transitioning loved ones into long-term healthcare environments . . .home healthcare, assisted living, memory care or nursing homes.

We find benefits to offset the expense. Mom or Dad need help . . .they can no longer take care of themselves and need assistance with activities of daily living. Who pays for what? What are they responsible for? What does Medicare pay? Their long-term care insurance and/or Medicare supplement policy? What about Medicaid or VA benefits? At Hoosier Senior Solutions, we help you understand the complexities of paying for care and assist you in qualifying for benefits that can extend seniors' estates so their biggest fear is erased . . running out of money because of long-term healthcare costs. We work with other professionals to determine the best plan of action to access benefits . . . elder law attorneys, CPAs, etc. In fact, we have these professionals as part of our team and even have an accredited Veterans Service Officer in-house to review and apply for VA benefits. You or your family do not need to go broke because of the need for extended care . . .learn the rules and how they apply to your specific situation. How does the 'look back' period work? Can I gift assets? What is the Medicaid spend-down and how does it apply to me? And, are there protections for a spouse when their loved one needs care and they are still at home? Give us a call . . .our consultation is free and we can help you determine how to access benefits at each stage of the process. Hoosier Senior Solutions

Ok, it's official . . .at midnight on the 31st my daughter Laurie officially becomes the owner and president of Hoosier Senior Solutions.

She has worked for me for 18 years and has earned this opportunity. She has been a key driver in the growth of the company and I am honored to hand the keys (and the profits and losses) over to her. In the picture below, I am tearing up my business card that says 'president' and she is holding her card with her new title.

Lest you think I am retiring, let me clear that up. I will serve as a consultant to her and will continue to run my other two companies . . .and hopefully play a little more golf.

If you get a chance, congratulate her for her dedication to the company and the opportunity before her.

This pandemic leaves a lot of seniors isolated, confused, and lonely. It's important to communicate any way you can . . .by phone, video messaging, or in person when possible. It doesn't have to be a family member . . .it can be the mother or father of a friend . . .your elderly neighbors may need someone to pick up a prescription, buy some groceries, or run a simple errand. Such help will mean the world to someone who isc afraid to wander out . . .and just knowing there are people who will help will give them comfort.

We're all on this together . . .do what you can to ease the fears of our elderly.

If you know someone who needs assistance home but they don't think they can afford it, call us. We help seniors obtain state, federal, and veteran's benefits to pay for home healthcare, assisted living, memory care or skilled care.

If you or a loved one are facing long-term healthcare . . .at home, assisted living, memory care, or even nursing home care . . .there may be financial assistance to reduce the cost of that care.

Many people make poor healthcare choices based on finances . . .the fear that they cannot afford that care without becoming completely impoverished. For married couples, that fear is multiplied. . .mant are concerned they will use all their resources for the care of one spouse, leaving the other with no resources and a substantially reduced income upon the death of the first to die. There are specific rules that apply to this situation, allowing for access to benefits to make sure the surviving spouse has sufficient income and assets to maintain their lifestyle.

In addition, veterans, their spouses, or their surviving spouses could receive over $26,000 per year TAX FREE to help pay for home healthcare, indpendent or assisted living, and even nursing or memory care expenses.

At Hoosier Senior Solutions we assist families with obtaining benefits to pay for care . . .benefits that could include paying family members to provide that care. Call us today for a free consultation.

Just got back from speaking in Peoria, IL at The Senior Symposium. It is fun to help families solve the complexities associated with paying for long-term healthcare costs. Many families make poor decisions for their loved one's care based on economics. Yet, no senior will be denied care regardless of their ability to pay . . .and benefits are available to all.

You DO NOT need to spend down all of your assets or lose your house to access these benefits. If married, there are special rules to ensure your spouse does not become impoverished while paying for your care. And, if you served in the military, there may be up to $26,000 per year available to help pay for home healthcare, assisted living, nursing home or memory care . . .for both veterans and their spouses (or surviving spouses).

If you or a loved one are needing assistance or care, let us know . . .we can answer your questions and let you know what benefits are available to offset expenses.
