Patient Rehab Success Story 💪✨
In 2024, Neena lost her leg above the knee due to complications from a blood clot. This was her second round of prosthetic training with us after receiving a new socket and experiencing multiple falls at home.
When she returned, Neena was walking just 50 feet with a walker and steadying assist, with frequent toe drag that significantly increased her fall risk.
Seventeen days later, her progress has been nothing short of incredible. She’s now walking over 150 feet independently with bilateral forearm crutches — no toe drag — and even 75–100 feet with a single crutch under close supervision. By discharge, she was independently completing floor transfers, kitchen tasks, and managing stairs step-over-step, with a greatly reduced fall risk and strong control of her prosthetic knee.
Neena was always early to therapy and motivated to work hard to improve her quality of life. Now back home, she’s wearing her prosthesis every day and thriving.
For perspective: walking with an above-the-knee prosthesis requires about 60% more energy than for a non-amputee — making her accomplishments even more impressive.
Neena is proof that determination and hard work truly pay off. We couldn’t be prouder! 👏
