Frank J. Yuk, MD, is an assistant professor of neurological surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He joined IU in the winter of 2025 after several years in private practice. He completed his neurosurgical training at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Yuk is a highly specialized dual fellowship trained spine surgeon. He completed his first fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital in adult complex spine surgery with a focus in minimally invasive spine surgery. He then completed a second orthopedic spine fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in adult and pediatric scoliosis and he spent additional time at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
His clinical practice focuses on treatment of the disorders of the spine. With formal backgrounds in both neurosurgery and orthopedic spine surgery, his practice allows him to treat the full spectrum of spinal disorders with a comprehensive, multidisciplinary perspective. Dr. Yuk has a special interest in minimally invasive spinal procedures, motion-preserving techniques, and advanced deformity and scoliosis correction for both pediatric and adult patients.
Dr. Yuk has an extensive research background with more than 35 peer reviewed journal publications, multiple book chapters, national meeting presentations, and several invited lectures. He is heavily involved in improving outcomes and fusion rates after minimally invasive spinal surgery. His experience with collegiate and professional athletes allows him to provide tailored and personalized care to get athletes back to sports. He is often referred challenging cases that require restoration of stability, correction of residual deformity or revision of prior instrumentation.
Outside of work, Dr. Yuk enjoys golfing, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with his wife, two children and two dogs.
