DIABETES CARE IS MISSING A KEY PLAYER — CLINICAL EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGISTS

A new ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal article highlights a major gap in diabetes care — and a massive opportunity for CEPs.
We already know:
Exercise can ↓ HbA1c, ↑ insulin sensitivity, and ↓ complications.
But in many diabetes programs, exercise is underutilized or not delivered by trained specialists.

That’s where Clinical Exercise Physiologists (ACSM-CEPs) come in.
CEPs are trained to:
• Prescribe safe, individualized exercise
• Manage risk (hypoglycemia, comorbidities)
• Integrate exercise with medications & glucose control

This is not just “activity advice.” This is clinical, evidence-based therapy.
➡️ Expanding CEP roles in DSMES + rehab programs = better outcomes, better care. Exercise is metabolic medicine. CEPs are trained to prescribe it.

Clinical Exercise Physiologists play a critical role in helping individuals with CKD move safely, improve strength, boost energy, and support overall health.
