What is Active Release Technique? 🤨

It is a simple muscle release that involves movement of the muscle through reisistance! This can do in a pinch if you are short a lacrosse ball, foam roller, massage gun, etc.

While easier to reach muscles (ie: neck, chest, arms, etc) can be done on your own, there are certain muscle groups where a trained professional would come in handy 🤷♂️

Try some of these out on your own and comment below any questions you might have!

A lot of people are surprised when pain around the eye, temple, or even the jaw doesn’t actually start there.

Sometimes it begins in the neck—specifically a muscle called the SCM—and then travels upward, creating symptoms that feel like headaches, sinus pressure, or even ear discomfort.

If you spend a lot of time at a desk, on your phone, or holding your head in one position, this muscle can quietly become overworked. And when it does, it doesn’t always complain locally—it “refers” pain to other areas, which can be confusing.

The good news is there are simple ways to help calm that tension and support the muscle. Small, consistent habits can go a long way.

And if things aren’t improving, it may be less about the muscle itself—and more about how your body is holding and moving over time.

Understanding these patterns can help you respond to your body with a little more clarity and confidence.

Have you ever noticed a tight, aching spot at the top of your shoulder that seems to travel up into your neck… or even turn into a headache near your temple or behind your eye?

A muscle in the upper back called the trapezius can sometimes be involved in that pattern. This muscle helps support your shoulders and neck all day long while you’re working, driving, typing, or using your phone. Over time, that constant workload can create tight spots in the muscle that send pain into nearby areas.

In this video, we show a simple way to use a massage ball against the wall to gently release tension in the upper back. Small movements and short breaks throughout the day can sometimes help calm this area and give your shoulders a chance to relax.
Your body works hard to adapt to what you ask of it. Sometimes it just needs a little help resetting.

That nagging pain in the back of your leg isn’t always from a big injury. Sometimes it’s sprinting, squatting, or lunging… and sometimes it’s just sitting at a desk all day.
When we sit for long periods, the hamstrings stay in a shortened position. Over time, they can build up tension and become more prone to irritation when you go back to running or working out.

In this video, I show a simple lacrosse ball “pin and stretch” technique you can do in a chair. Just 30–60 seconds, a couple times a day, targeting those tight spots can make a big difference.

If it’s not improving after several days—or keeps coming back—it may be a sign that the hip, back, or even the foot is contributing. That’s where a proper evaluation can help you get to the root of it.

Take care of those hamstrings so they can take care of you.

Shoulder pain isn’t “just part of getting older,” and you don’t have to push through it.

Tightness, pinching, or nagging shoulder pain from workouts, desk work, or old injuries is common, but the right mobility + stability exercises can make a huge difference.

Try these exercises out, save for later, and share with someone who needs shoulder relief 💪

🚨 FAQ: What is an adjustment? 🚨

Patients frequently ask what an adjustment is, why it helps and ultimately why that's not the only thing we do. The answer is simple: movement AND function!

When a joint in your body becomes dysfunctional or "stuck", it leads to compensation. The adjustment helps correct the dysfunction in the joint space, but it often ignores the surrounding and underlying compensation 😨

Our thorough approach directly targets not only the joint space, but also the underlying compensation and soft tissue, to treat you the best way we know how 💪

If you have any questions, please comment them below, or call us at (317)-449-2020 to schedule your appointment today ☎️

Upper arm pain can sneak up on you — after workouts, yard work, lifting kids, or even just long days at a desk. A lot of the time, it’s not something dramatic… it’s tight, overworked muscle tissue that just needs the right kind of attention.

In this video, we show a simple “pin and stretch” technique using a lacrosse ball.

With your arm bent, apply steady pressure into the muscle, then slowly straighten the arm to create a gentle stretch. Work your way up the arm for about 30–60 seconds, 2–3 times a day. It’s a small habit that can make a meaningful difference.

If it’s not improving after about a week, that’s usually a good sign it deserves a closer look. We’re always here to help you move better, feel better, and get back to doing what you enjoy.

MAINTENANCE! 🚨

While most of us like to wait until the last minute for things, preventative maintenance in regards to your health and body is extremely important!

Taking care of your body and muscles the same way you do your teeth is a great example. Instead of waiting until there is pain to begin treatment, if we all go 2-3 times a year, we can beat the pain BEFORE it even starts!

If you can't remember when your last visit was or are already feeling the warning signs of discomfort, come on in and get ahead of the curve!
