Ralph's life reflects courage, perseverance, and a deep commitment​ to justice. A graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Ralph built a multifaceted career as a bank manager, property manager, and substitute teacher.​

Notably, he became the first African American loan officer in Indiana; a groundbreaking achievement that opened doors for many who followed.​

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ralph’s heart for equality led him into activism. He worked alongside Jesse Jackson during the civil rights movement and was even arrested while standing for the cause he believed in.​

Throughout his life, Ralph has demonstrated quiet strength and principled conviction. His story is one of resilience and faithful advocacy, a reminder that progress is often built by those willing to stand firm with courage and hope.

Virginia is a true trailblazer in Indiana history. She became the first African American female Court Reporter in the state - a groundbreaking achievement that required both courage and excellence in her profession.​

​Her career in politics spanned many years, during which she served faithfully as a trustee and worked closely with influential leaders, including Julia Carson. Virginia’s work supported initiatives and policies that shaped communities across Indiana.​

​Known for her integrity and professionalism, she earned the respect of colleagues and public servants alike. Virginia’s legacy is not only found in the records she kept or the offices she supported, but in the many doors she opened for future generations.​

Both the dedicated staff and cherished residents, along with their beloved family members, had a wonderful time.
