4. What do you enjoy most about our community?

Answer: I have a great deal of respect and appreciation for the entire staff—medical, social workers, support staff, transportation, and administration. Caring for vulnerable people is both admirable and challenging, and it requires individuals with a special calling. We also love how friendly and welcoming the community is to pets. My mother is happiest when her granddaughter visits with her dog, Nike. And he knows it too—there are always dog treats waiting for him at the front desk.

How has it been since she was admitted?

For her, the biggest adjustments have been cultural integration and accepting the reality that she no longer lives at home with family members. My mother has lived both in Europe—where she is from—and in the United States (New York City and Indianapolis), either independently in Europe or with family in the U.S., so this has been a significant adjustment for her.

I remain involved in her care, and both my daughter and I visit frequently. For me, the support, care, and stable environment she receives are very important, including the attention she was given during the two major, high-risk eye surgeries she had over the past year.

Don was born and raised in the Indianapolis, where his love for sports and discipline began early. He attended St. Roch Catholic school, and it was there when he first fell in love with football and track. What started as fun grew into a true passion, and Don discovered he was building character, strength, and confidence.

In 1980, Don reached a huge milestone by winning a heavyweight championship. It was a moment he would reflect on often, remembering his years of hard work and perseverance. He also valued his education and had earned his MBA, believing the mind should be as strong as the body.

Today, Don still has the same passion for fitness and enjoys exercising, especially on the cycle bike. He is always encouraging others to stay active and live healthier lives. Whether through sports, fitness, motivation, or support, Don believes movement builds not only muscles, but the confidence and resilience that lead to a better life.

Another success story!

Michael Becker came to Forest Creek Village after a hospital stay that made returning home challenging. He shared that Cathy from therapy played a key role in his success: “She worked with me often until I reached the point where I could return home. I’m so thankful for Cathy!”

Michael also reflected on his time at Forest Creek Village, saying, “I have really enjoyed my stay here. The food was wonderful—especially the desserts! The staff was kind and made me feel right at home. If I ever needed a place to go again, I would come back.”

While he’s happy to return home, he will truly miss everyone here.

We are so proud to see you regain your independence, Michael. Remember, we are always here if you need us!
