Please join us on Tuesday.

Join us for a special flag raising ceremony at Northland Counseling Center. Our local VFW upgraded their flag pole and we have adopted their previous one. The pole was refinished by one of our employees, a Veteran, and will now have a new home at our entrance.

All are welcome as we come together to recognize the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of those who serve and to reaffirm our commitment to their mental health and well-being.

What is Warrior Care Month? An initiative through the Department of Defense aimed at increasing awareness of programs and resources available to wounded, ill, and injured service members, their families, and those who care about them. This includes the community care services that Northland provides💚

Today, we honor and thank all who have served. Your courage, commitment, and sacrifice protect the freedoms we all share.

At Northland, we also recognize that the transition from military to civilian life can bring unique challenges. This Veterans Day, we stand beside our Veterans, not only in gratitude, but in support of their continued well-being.

To all Veterans: thank you for your service, your strength, and your resilience.💚

The month when mustaches make their grand return! It’s all for a good cause! Movember is about raising awareness for men’s health, including mental health, because taking care of yourself is always in style.

Men, just like your physical health, your mental health matters. Whether you rock a full beard, a patchy stache, or prefer the clean-shaven look, make time to check in with yourself and the men in your life. A conversation, a laugh, or a simple “How are you, really?” can make a big difference. Men's health matters!💚

This month, we honor the rich history, culture, and resilience of Native American and Indigenous communities. Their traditions remind us of the importance of balance, connection, and healing, values that deeply influence how we understand mental health today.

We’re grateful for the wisdom and strength these communities share, guiding us toward more holistic and compassionate approaches to wellness.💚

We hope your night is filled with fun, laughter, and just the right amount of spookiness. As you celebrate, here are a few reminders to help keep the evening safe for everyone:

Tips for our Trick-or-Treaters
🎃Stay visible if you’re out after dark
🎃Watch for traffic when trick-or-treating
🎃 Check treats with your adults before enjoying
🎃Take care of yourself and your pals

Tips for the Treat Team
👻Be patient - Keep an eye out for those blue pumpkins 💙Some children may take a little longer to choose candy or may not say “trick-or-treat” or “thank you.” Their smiles say it all.
👻 Offer options - Consider having non-food treats (like stickers or small toys) available for kids with allergies or dietary restrictions.
👻Keep it safe - Clear walkways, keep pets secured, and use lights so kids can approach your door safely.
👻Create a calm space - Loud noises, strobe lights, or jump scares can be overwhelming. Think about how your setup might feel to a child with sensory sensitivities. Even waiting until later in the evening to activate the "spooky ghouls" often lets the younger kids or kids that might be most impacted by these decorations go through before it gets too scary.
👻Celebrate their presence - Every child deserves to feel included and welcomed, even teenage trick-or-treaters.

Have a safe, fun, and memorable Halloween!

Sometimes the best therapy is a little laughter! Our team had some fun getting into the Halloween spirit; costumes, candy, and all! A great reminder that it’s okay to be silly, let loose, and enjoy the lighter side of life. Happy Halloween from all of us at Northland Counseling Center🎃

Halloween is coming! Just wanted to offer a reminder that a little bit of kindness goes a long way for our trick-or-treaters. You may have first timers, kids who are a little nervous, kids who need a little extra time, kids in a hurry, kids with food allergies, kids with sensory differences, older kids, younger kids, and so on. Practicing kindness and understanding with all your visitors will help ensure a great evening for everyone 🎃
