In Iceland, power lines have become art — towering steel giants shaped like human figures, striding gracefully across volcanic landscapes.
Created by Choi + Shine Architects, the “Land of Giants” project reimagines electrical pylons not as industrial eyesores but as sculptural guardians of energy. Each structure stands up to 150 feet tall, designed to withstand harsh winds while appearing to walk, bow, or climb the terrain.
The giants are modular, meaning their arms and poses can be adjusted depending on the geography. Beyond aesthetics, they symbolize harmony between technology and nature — how infrastructure can coexist beautifully with the environment.
This breathtaking blend of design, engineering, and symbolism has won international awards and inspired cities worldwide to rethink how essential utilities can carry both power and meaning.
