At the core of relationship anxiety is the fear that you’ll be rejected or left and the question of “Am I enough?”
When that fear gets activated, picking fights or pushing your partner away can become a defense mechanism. If you leave first (emotionally or physically), it feels less vulnerable than waiting to be left.
However, it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy: creating distance to avoid being left. Not because you want disconnection, but because you’re trying to feel safe. 🤍
