Leo Patrick James Nelson arrived as dad’s most epic 40th birthday gift at 12:38am on 3/5/26.

This week we celebrate 9 years of Team Iowa. Our family has lived many lifetimes since opening our doors in 2017. Through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, the thing we are most proud of is that we keep showing up. The circumstances and path that brought Leo to our family is a testament to this.

We don’t know what life has in store for us, but we do know this: if we keep showing up, with love and hope, we will figure it out. We are now one day shy of three weeks with our sweet Leo and our love for him and our entire family continues to grow.

Whether it is showing up for our family, our team, our patients or our community, we can extend this same promise to all of you: that we will keep showing up with love and hope. We also know we could not do this alone. Thank you for your support, your trust and your kindness. We feel the love and are so grateful for each and every person in the Team Iowa community. Cheers to 9 years and to many, many more.

We are excited to introduce the newest member of our team, Taylor Hartley.

Taylor Hartley, PT, DPT, is originally from Fort Dodge, Iowa. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa, and also received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa in December, 2025. She is excited to stay in the Iowa City area and was drawn to Team Iowa for their strong sense of community and emphasis on providing patient-centered care. In her free time, Taylor enjoys swimming, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

You continue to grow as a teacher and mentor- through teaching Case Based Learning at Iowa, leading trainings for our team and educating our community of followers with your social takeovers and instructional videos.

🎉 Congrats and best wishes to our awesome PT, Rachel 🎉

Today is Rachel’s 2 Year Team Iowa Anniversary and it also marks her final day at Team Iowa. Rachel is moving to Des Moines; transitioning into married life with her husband, Andrew, and working in an outpatient clinic.

Rachel - Thank you for two amazing years (plus the bonus year you spent with us as a tech in undergrad). Throughout your time at Team Iowa, you have done an amazing job developing strong relationships with your patients. You have a true gift of making every patient you work with feel seen and special. Your work ethic and dedication to the profession has been on full display for your patients and teammates, each and every day.

We will miss you at Team Iowa and are simultaneously so excited for you and Andrew as you embark on this next journey, together.

Every other Friday, we block off time during clinic hours to enhance our technical skills through trainings, as well as conduct case studies on current patients. We prioritize these activities to help build community, improve our clinical skills and to brainstorm ideas with one another to ensure our patients are receiving the best possible care.

Last Friday, Joe led an inservice for our PTs (and students) focused on the evaluation of neck pain, as well as treatment plans and exercises to use once a diagnosis has been made.
