November 17-21 is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. For several years Shelter House - Iowa City has participated in this week of education and advocacy, raising attention to the issues of poverty, hunger and homelessness in our community.

“I recently competed at the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships in Norway, where I placed 6th in the 63kg weight class. I’ve been going to Team Iowa for about two months now, and it’s made a big difference. Working with Matt and the team has helped me stay healthy and address some issues that have bothered me in the past. It’s been a great experience so far, and I’m excited to keep getting better!” -Katie E.

This Veterans Day, we are donating $1,425 to . Our community sound bath with raised $425 and Team Iowa is adding $1,000 to support the mission of this amazing organization.

Thank you to Jenn for co-hosting the sound bath with us and to for donating the space for the class.

I’m so grateful there are more resources available, today, to help veterans process the trauma of war. I can’t help but imagine how different life could have been for my dad and many other veterans of the past if they had access to these life-changing programs.
