Since 1971, Systems Unlimited has been proudly delivering excellence in care for people with disabilities and mental health needs in Eastern Iowa. Each one of our services—supported living, day programs, employment systems, behavioral health solutions, guidance for families, and more—are aimed at helping people of all ages live their best life. Together, we’ll work with you to help set and achieve lifelong goals and learn day-to-day tasks, such as cleaning and grocery shopping. Day Programs & Employment Systems
Our day programs are focused on relationship building, exploring self-expression through art, volunteerism, and visiting area attractions. We also work with more than 50 area businesses to help those we serve find jobs in the community and provide any needed support for that person to maintain their job. On average, we have about 200 people in positions at any given time. Behavioral Health
Our committed team of clinical professionals includes licensed ABA therapists, behavioral support professionals, and nursing staff. They provide support to our staff and community members to ensure the people we serve receive innovative services to overcome life challenges. Advocacy and Guidance
The world of social services can be complex, but we are here to be a trusted guide and advocate for those we serve and their families. Our History
Systems Unlimited was founded as a nonprofit in 1971 by a group of parents who wanted to ensure those we care for can live in safe, comfortable houses locally and be taught skills that allow them to live as independently as possible. We are proud to live that mission everyday for the last 50 years! Our Staff Sets the Gold Standard

They are passionate about helping people of all ages live as happy, healthy, and independently as possible by providing direct care that is personalized and accredited. We believe in building one-on-one relationships with those we care for. Our organization and people are proud to set the gold standard in Eastern Iowa and beyond. Employment Opportunities

At Systems Unlimited, no two paths look exactly the same because no two people are the same 💙☀️

For Jimmy, one of his goals is to build independence through cooking, and he’s been working hard to make it happen.

This week, Jimmy proudly showcased those skills by making homemade chicken Alfredo with his staff. 🍝👏 And yes, it was as exciting (and delicious) as it sounds!

When services are centered on a person’s goals, confidence grows, skills shine, and milestones turn into moments worth celebrating.

Way to go, Jimmy! 🌟👨‍🍳

What a year! As we reflect on 2025, we’re filled with gratitude for our community, our staff, the people we serve, and every partner who walked alongside us. Together, we continued advancing independence, dignity, and personal growth for people with disabilities and mental health needs, the heart of our mission all year long.

As we look back over the 2025 year, here are some wonderful moments that happened:

🗽 Advocacy in Action
Our CEO took an important step to share Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) needs in Washington, DC reinforcing Systems Unlimited’s voice where it matters most and advocating for stronger supports for the people we serve.

In addition, a group of staff and people in our services went to the state capitol to advocate for people receiving waiver services.

🏡 Growing Homes, Growing Opportunities
This year we proudly opened our 99th and 100th supported community living homes, expanding safe, person-centered living options across Eastern Iowa.

🤝 Caring in Action Days: Our First Ever!
In 2025 we launched our very first Caring in Action Days, bringing teams of volunteers together to serve our community. During Caring in Action Days, these volunteers supported our homes by doing meaningful projects that improve the lives of those we serve.

📚 New Learning Began: Intro to Services Day
We kicked off Intro to Services Day, helping people and families better understand the wide range of supports we offer, from supported living to employment systems and behavioral health solutions.

🤝 Stronger Together: Supported Employment Growth
Our supported employment program welcomed 10 new business partners this year, opening more doors to meaningful work opportunities and community inclusion for the people we serve.

🎟️ Events That Brought Us Together
From community fundraisers and awareness events to fun, inclusive experiences, 2025 was filled with moments that connected us:
• 📖 Barnes & Noble Book Fair
• 🌈 Iowa City & Cedar Rapids Pride
• 👟 Sensory Run & Walk
• 🏒 Heartlanders Game Fundraiser
…and more community celebrations that brought joy and purpose to every step.

✨ Services Every Day
Through homes, employment programs, day supports, and individualized care, we continued providing high-quality services that help people thrive.

💙 Thank you to our staff, partners, families, and supporters for making 2025 a remarkable year. Here’s to expanding impact in 2026! 🚀

For Giving Tuesday, Meet Avery.

For years, Avery dreamed of something many of us take for granted. He wanted a place where he could breathe and call home. A place that felt like his.

But living with overwhelming anxiety and roommates, this made every day a challenge. Independence seemed close, yet completely out of reach.

Then something incredible happened. A generous gift through our Giving Tree Fund opened the door to a small basement apartment of his own, with caring staff just upstairs when he needs support. It wasn’t just a move. It was the start of a new chapter.

The Giving Tree Fund didn’t stop at four walls. It gave Avery a bed to sleep on, kitchen essentials to make his own meals, and the safety and comfort of a true home for the very first time.

And the difference shows. His team shared that since the move to his own place that, “He’s saving money, has his own bank card, and is much calmer overall. He’s even back to attending his day program regularly.”

That is what your donations can do. Throughout the year, when people coming into our services have essential needs for a quality life that they can't afford, that is when our Giving Tree Fund comes into play.

✨ This Giving Tuesday, you can help write the next story like Avery’s.

Your gift today will help people live their best lives.
