TENSION & PAIN IN THE NECK?

People often carry tension in their neck and trapezius muscles due to several factors:

1. Poor Posture: Spending long hours sitting or working at a computer can lead to forward head posture and rounded shoulders, which put strain on the neck and traps.

2. Stress: Emotional or mental stress often causes people to unconsciously tighten or hunch their shoulders, leading to muscle tension in the neck and traps.

3. Sedentary Lifestyle: Lack of movement and prolonged sitting can contribute to muscle stiffness and tightness in the upper body.

4. Overuse or Incorrect Use of Muscles: Repetitive movements, such as lifting, or improper exercise form can strain the neck and traps.

5. Text Neck: Constantly looking down at phones or tablets puts extra stress on the neck muscles.

6. Sleeping Positions: Sleeping in an awkward position or without proper neck support can cause tension to build up overnight.

All of these factors contribute to chronic muscle tightness and discomfort in these areas. Regular movement, stretching, mindfulness of posture and massage therapy with hot stones can help alleviate this "pain in the neck" tension.
