They say all good things come to an end. Today that end was not just a closing of a building but of a large second family who all came together, some as long as 42 years ago, some as recent as 2 months. We are so greatful that most of that family has chosen to go together to combine with Scenic Living community employees and create a larger family whose ultimate goal is to provide quality care for those who live there.
We will cherish all the great memories we have had there. Also the heartbreak we as caregivers feel when we lose someone that we have grown to love.

Today December 27, 2021, is the beginning of one staff members departure from Heritage Care Center. Our Administrator, John Freeman, accepted his new job under the same company the rest of us staff are working for. He will begin his new Administrator job at Prairie Vista Village, in Altoona, Iowa. Each day staff members are helping pack resident's belongings, and as the resident's depart from Heritage some staff will depart too. We all are making this transitioning as smooth as we can. There's not much left to say, but Good Luck to a few who are taking new jobs and those who transfering to Senic Manor.. May God Guide Us.

Happy Holidays!
Heritage residents and staff enjoyed a day of celebrating one last time. We had a group sing along, lots of goodies, and a visit from Santa who delivered gifts to all the residents.
We want to send a special thank you to Harriett Grim Norrem for playing the piano, all the staff, Elks Club and Santa's Little Helpers for the gifts. Also a big thank you to everyone who made/sent cards for the residents.

Happy Holiday!
We have been busy with making ornaments, decorating the trees, playing holiday bingo and holiday hangman, toured the lights around town and Foster Park and even enjoyed decorating holiday cookies and then of course we have to sample them. Bringing back holiday memories and reminiscing has been so much fun with the residents.

IOWA FALLS, IA – Scenic Living Communities purchased Heritage Care Center in July 2021. The initial plan of purchase included keeping both buildings open in hopes that operational efficiency could not only maintain, but most importantly, improve the level of care for the residents. However, both buildings in the past two years have experienced unique challenges related to the pandemic. The most significant being the impending vaccine mandate, which is expected to eliminate a large number of staff on top of the staffing shortages that both communities were experiencing before the mandate. While staffing shortages are not unique to our healthcare profession, the shortage along with the vaccine mandate will critically limit the staffing resources needed to provide the necessary care and services for all of our residents. Because of this, it has been decided that the path forward includes combining both Heritage Care Center and Scenic Manor. This provides operating as a whole rather than two parts under Scenic Living Communities. As Heritage Care Center cannot accommodate an estimated 80 residents, it has been decided that Heritage Care Center will be the building to close.
While this was certainly not the outcome planned nor hoped for, it is the only option which allows for adequate resources that contribute to the highest level of care for all residents. Scenic Living Communities’ commitment to maintain a viable option for outstanding senior healthcare services in Iowa Falls remains priority.
Heritage Care Center will remain open for 60 days from the date of this release. Staff of Scenic Living Communities and Heritage Care Center will work diligently together to ensure a smooth transition of the Heritage Care Center residents, families and staff.
We acknowledge the blessing that Heritage Care Center has been to many families in the Iowa Falls area for more than 40 years. The closure does not mean the end, but rather the merge of two community families into one. We are forever thankful to the Heritage Care Center staff and families for their dedication and look forward to moving forward together

Happy Birthday Mickey Mouse celebration!
Residents and staff enjoyed a fun day of trivia and treats made by our Life enrichment assistant Julie Walker.
Fun fact to know:
Although Disney said that Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse got married, there was never a wedding on screen. Interestingly, Wayne Allwine and Russi Taylor, the longtime voices of Mickey and Minnie, were also married to each other for 18 years.

WE ARE JOINING FORCES!
This holiday season we are joining Bethany Lutheran Church, Greenbelt Home Care and the Iowa Falls Rotary in partnership with Toys for Tots program. We have a drop- off box in the front lobby. Just ring the door bell when you drop it off if no one is around.
The gifts for children will be picked up on Monday December 6.
