Service Dog Project Inc.

Service Dog Project Inc. Service Dog Project Inc. is a non-profit organization training Great Dane Service Dogs for mobility. Our second mission is to serve our local community.

SDP’s main mission is to breed, raise, train, and donate certified service dogs to people who experience difficulty with their balance or mobility. These partnerships often help to enhance the recipient’s quality of life as they attain greater independence. Preference is given to military veterans, first responders and their families. SDP’s farm is a destination for all ages — from teens doing community service, to seniors in search of a meaningful task and social interaction, to military veterans (many with PTSD) who enjoy feeling useful and connected while doing farm chores. Our Road Show project of dogs and trainers visiting senior centers provides much-needed smiles and comfort.

Service Dog Project Inc. traveled to Boston yesterday to participate in the 10th Annual Disabled American Veterans (DAV) 5K Boston in support of our local veterans. DAV5KBoston had over 1,500 registrants, which was the fifth straight sell-out for the event. Service Dog trainees Cashew, Cricket, and Pecan made lots of new friends and got some great experience with things like crowds and plenty of loud noises. SDP’s tent was in a prime location, and the team made some excellent new contacts. Everyone was very well fed, too, with delicious food donated by Wahlburgers and other generous food vendors. In addition to the pictures below of our team, 600 official photos of the event (including some of Pecan!) can be seen at https://tracsinc.pixieset.com/dav5kboston2025/

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gabby (aka Baby Girl), a beloved member of our Orca litter family.

As a retired breed dog, Gabby touched the lives of everyone at Service Dog Project with her gentle spirit and unique personality. Whether you watched her grow through our live cameras, followed her on social media, or held her in your thoughts, Gabby made an impact and reminded us why we do this work.

While her time with us was shorter than we hoped, the love and memories she created will remain with us always. We are grateful for the support from our community during this difficult time.

If you'd like to honor Gabby's memory, please consider making a donation to Service Dog Project in her name to help us continue our mission.

Rest peacefully, sweet Gabby. You will be deeply missed.

Here is part 2 of the spooky Salem adventures of Cashew, Cricket, and Peanut during Halloween Week. Besides taking in all excitement of “The City of Witches,” our service dog trainees got to ride the commuter rail. Despite the very cramped quarters, the dogs did well backing into their respective rows for the train ride.

Cashew, Cricket, and Peanut had a very scary adventure this week - visiting Salem, MA, on Halloween Week 😱! They encountered all kinds of witches, monsters, ghosts, and goblins, but they mustered the courage as a team to get through the day unscathed. Lots of photos were taken, including from their train ride together, so stay tuned for part 2! 👻🎃💀👹
