When you practice kindness towards others it helps them, and surprisingly, it will help you too.

Acts of kindness are motivated by a selfless desire to help another person. However, performing random acts of kindness is one of the best ways to increase your happiness.

There are so many ways you can extend yourself. Being kind could mean:

-Leaving a thank you note for your delivery man.
-Preparing food for an elderly neighbor.
-Volunteering at a local charity.

Extending kindness can improve your:

-Physical and mental health.
-Release stress and tension.
-Calming your emotions.
-Boosting your immune system.
-Strengthening your connection with others.
-Fostering a sense of belonging.

Starting today, practices kindness and then keep it up the rest of the week. You’ll feel happier and stronger, which will alleviate stress and worry!

We can all experience mindfulness anywhere, anytime by paying attention with an open attitude. There are many ways to intentionally practice mindfulness throughout the day. They can easily be incorporated into daily tasks and should not take any extra time.

Choose a daily task to bring mindfulness into your day, such as brushing your teeth, getting dressed, taking a steamy shower, eating etc...

Bring a sense of exploration and curiosity to your daily routine. Remember not to judge yourself but to accept what arises. Simply observe the way things are as they are right now.

You can create a habit of mindfulness:

 Connect with your intention—remind yourself why you want to practice, how it supports your values (for example, that it will help you be more present to your children, less reactive at work, more at ease with yourself).

 Notice the rewards, the benefits of your practice.

 Deliberately thank yourself for practicing.

 Create a pattern: for example, sit for five minutes when you get up every day and just be present with yourself, your breath and body sensations.

 Set reminders. These can be visual cues or computer pings or anything else that works for you.

 Reflect on your practice—what worked? What helped you to start?

 Make a commitment to yourself—even write it up with specifics about what you plan to do.

Welcome to Design and Wellness Studio

La Fe Solutions’ Design and Wellness Studio was founded by Dr. Melissa Knight, PHD, RN, MSN, CNE, a holistic health and wellness expert, nursing professor, author, avid researcher and meditation/yoga facilitator. In partnerships with local artist, our mission at Design and Wellness Studio is to enhance the physical and mental health and well-being of individuals and the community through art and design interventions. The broad range of holistic and artistic-based modalities/interventions that we offer are uniquely structured to promote health, wellness, personal enrichment, creativity and healing while reducing effects of stress, anxiety, hypertension, depression, chronic disease etc. We’ve created a warm, relaxing and healing environment that is welcoming to citizens of all ages including corporate groups for team bonding through the arts, creativity and design. Come and experience our various offerings and enjoy the holistic healing benefits that our services offer. Take advantage of our experienced art facilitators and credentialed health coaches, holistic health experts and meditation/yoga masters who have tried and attest to the benefits of leveraging one's own health and wellness through a combination of painting, writing, journaling, poetry, meditation, mindfulness, yoga, dance and movement. In addition to onsite coaching and instruction, we offer art-based nursing services for community nursing homes, hospice agencies, home health, adult daycare, respite homes etc. Our vision is that through the art modalities/individuals we provide it will serve as a medium to reduce the negative impact that mental illness, stress, anxiety, depression and chronic diseases are inflicting upon our community citizens both young and old.

In addition to our unique healing interventions, our local artists offer public and private painting events and classes.
