šŸŽ„ Merry Christmas from all of us at Upwards Physiotherapy šŸŽ„

This season is a good reminder to pause, reflect, and appreciate what truly matters—health, family, faith, and the people we share life with.

We know the holidays can be full: travel, long days sitting, extra workouts squeezed in, or pushing through aches so you can keep up with everything and everyone. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

Our encouragement to you this Christmas:
āœ” Keep moving
āœ” Listen to your body
āœ” Don’t ignore pain that keeps creeping back
āœ” And remember—taking care of your health is one of the best gifts you can give your family and yourself

We’re incredibly grateful for the trust you place in us and for supporting a local, veteran & family-owned business. It’s an honor to help you stay active, strong, and doing what you love.

Wishing you a peaceful Christmas, quality time with those you love, and a strong, healthy start to the New Year.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your body—and your mind—is to pause, reflect, and take in the view. šŸ”āœØ

Recovery isn’t just about getting back to workouts or daily routines—it’s about moving well so you can fully experience moments like this. Whether you’re climbing mountains or simply chasing after your kids, your body should be *working for you*, not against you.

If pain is holding you back, let’s fix that. Because the best views in life come when you’re free to move, explore, and *finish strong.* šŸ’Ŗ

Stay Strong and Pain-Free for the Life You LovešŸ’ŖšŸ«¶

A client articulated an outstanding goal recently that I want to share.

"Success looks like reclaiming my independence, feeling good in my body, and experiencing joy in everyday activities."

Fantastic goal to reflect on entering the year!

Reclaiming.

Joy.

Reclaiming...We live in body's that are aging and they wear down. We're made to move & yet life often requires prolonged positions that are static, like sitting.

We lose mobility, strength and then function.

Can we reclaim that loss? In many cases, absolutely yes!

Did you know that even those who deal with degenerative processes like osteoarthritis, live without pain or limitations?

JOY...I don't view joy as a state of constantly laughing without any challenges or worries. I view it as deep contentment, despite the circumstances & joy can be present even in difficulties and suffering.

What do you hope to experience in 2025?

Whatever it may be, here are some tips I've found helpful through the years...

1. Get a clear understanding of where you are now.

2. Anchor your "why" behind a motive rooted in love, not fear.

3. Be teachable & ask for help when you feel stuck.

4. Focus on consistency, not perfection. Small incremental improvements in consistency with healthy habits builds momentum.

Let us know what you'd like to pursue in 2025! And if you need help with reclaiming movement loss, strength and function, reach out...we've got your back!

**šŸ’” Why Early Physical Therapy Matters for Your Recovery šŸ’”**

Did you know your body has an incredible built-in repair system? It’s called **mechanotransduction**, and it’s a game-changer for healing injuries and getting back to your best self.

Here’s how it works:
When your tissues experience mechanical stress—like movement, resistance training, stretching, manual therapy, or dry needling—your cells respond by repairing and rebuilding. This process strengthens tissues, speeds up recovery, and prevents future injuries.

šŸ’Ŗ **Why early access to PT is critical:**
- **Guided recovery:** Early physical therapy ensures your body heals the *right way*, preventing compensations that could lead to chronic issues.
- **Faster results:** By engaging your body’s natural repair mechanisms, we can accelerate healing and get you back to the activities you love sooner.
- **Stronger foundations:** PT-designed movements build tissue resilience, so you’re not just healing—you’re thriving!

šŸ› ļø **How exercise, manual therapy, and dry needling boost healing:**
- **Exercise:** Mechanical forces like stretching or resistance training activate sensors in your cells (such as integrins and stretch-activated ion channels), triggering pathways like mTOR to promote protein synthesis and muscle growth. Over time, this improves strength, size, and endurance.
- **Manual therapy:** Hands-on techniques like joint mobilization and soft tissue work improve circulation, relieve tension, and restore mobility. This primes your body for movement-based recovery and enhances your progress.
- **Dry needling:** Focuses on releasing tight or painful areas by increasing blood flow, reducing inflammation, and restoring proper muscle function. It also stimulates collagen production and tissue repair, perfectly complementing your exercise routine.

If you’re dealing with pain or an injury, don’t wait to take action. The sooner you start physical therapy, the better your body can heal and recover.

**✨ Don’t Let Back Pain Hold You Back! ✨**

Did you know that your posture could be the *secret weapon* against back pain? Whether you’re working long hours at a desk or binge-watching your favorite series, your spine craves proper alignment. Here’s why posture matters and how you can take action TODAY:

šŸ”‘ **Why Posture is Key**
Sitting for extended periods compresses the discs in your lower back and weakens your core muscles. Over time, this can lead to aches, pains, and even injuries. We are MADE to MOVE. But the good news? Small changes make a BIG difference!

šŸ’” **3 Quick Posture Fixes:**
1ļøāƒ£ **Sit Smart:** Keep your feet flat on the floor, shoulders relaxed, and your back supported.
2ļøāƒ£ **Take Micro-Breaks:** Stand up and stretch every 30 minutes to keep your spine happy.
3ļøāƒ£ **Strengthen Your Core and Glutes:** Simple exercises like planks and bridges can help improve your posture and reduce back strain.

šŸ™Œ **Feel the Difference**
Better posture doesn’t just ease pain—it boosts your confidence and energy, too!
