We are here 24/7 for pets like Mable! 🐾

Mable was bitten by a rattlesnake while enjoying the warming SoCal weather. This is an emergency for people and pets, and getting treatment as soon as possible can make the difference between life and death.

Emergencies like this are stressful enough. Add to that the unexpected financial strain they can cause, and it quickly becomes overwhelming. That’s why we came up with our Hometown Payment Plan, passionately developed by our founder, Dr. Mike Cao, who grew up in Irvine. This is a completely customizable, 100% in-house, 0% interest payment plan with one purpose: Make emergency care accessible to everyone.

Mable’s family was able to move forward with the care she needed... As you can see, Mable is fully recovered and back to her adorable, tongue hanging-out self ❤️.

Fleas aren’t just an itchy nuisance 🐾
In cats, especially kittens and smaller pets, flea infestations can lead to anemia and can also transmit tapeworms if fleas are ingested during grooming. What starts as scratching can turn into a bigger health issue if prevention isn’t consistent. 🩺 Regular flea control helps protect more than just the skin, it supports overall health.

Rocco came to the hospital with his emotional support Snoopy. 🐾🧸

Watching how happy and comforted he was with his little stuffed buddy absolutely melted our hearts 🥹

We’re so happy Rocco is now home and recovering.

It definitely gave us the same energy as Punch the monkey and his stuffed orangutan. 🧡

Our Story

We began almost 2 decades ago as a single doctor practice, rooted in serving the basic needs of the pets in the community. The city of Irvine has grown a lot since then, and so have we. Our sense of community, however, remains the same.

We are still a locally owned practice. The owner, Dr. Cao, grew up right down the street (and his mom still lives there). He is a graduate of Woodbridge High School and UC Irvine. Dr. Cao left Irvine over a decade ago to begin his journey to become a veterinarian. After spending several years at an elite 24/7 emergency practice in Ventura County, he came back home.

Irvine Valley Veterinary Hospital now offers the best care for your pets going well beyond basic services. Our dedicated team of doctors and support staff are ready to help your pet from 7am - midnight, 7 days a week. We recognize that there is a need in our community for urgent care. As a service to our community, there is no extra charge for emergencies and walk-ins, no matter what time of day. On top of that, we have overnight nursing staff should your pet require hospitalization.

Our core value has always been, and will always be family. This includes the way our team works together with the unified goal of going above and beyond for you and your pet. This is why all of our doctors are Fear Free certified. We treat your pets like they are part of your family. Our family. We treat them with respect.
