MRSA Foundation, Inc. Simul, juvant. Non-Profit Organization; Research Oriented; Medical; Consciousness Raiser

08/14/2017

After over six years in operation and $10,000 raised, the MRSA Foundation, Inc. will be filing for dissolution later this year.

It has always been my belief that MRSA Foundation, Inc. should only continue to exist so long as it is helping people. While the mrsafoundation.com website continues to reach thousands of visitors each month, the lack of dedicated volunters within the organization has handicapped our ability to respond timely to messages, perform website updates regularly, and achieve various other best practices. It is for these reasons that I find it best to cease operations, since we are no longer able to best serve the public.

Over the course of the next four months, we will uphold our fiduciary responsiblity to our donors by finding organizations that are doing research in MRSA to remit our surpluses to, as is required by the IRS. All checks received before 8/31/2017 will be deposited and dispursed as mentioned. All checks thereafter will not be deposited.

Thank you again for all your help, trust, donations, support, love, and outreach. None of this could have been done without you.

Thank You,
Chris Dickson
Co-Founder, MRSA Foundation, Inc.

Hello All,

It has been a while since we posted because we have been short staffed; however, we hope to be more active during the coming months.

A recent request to share a GoFundMe page has come to our attention and we want to share it. While nobody at the MRSA Foundation knows Jen personally, we did read her story on GoFundMe and wanted to make people aware of her request.

Sincerely,
MRSA Foundation, Inc.

My name is Jen and I've been with my soulmate for 11 years now. In April just before Easter my husband Pat had spinal surgery due to a cyst that was infected with MRSA, he had emergency surgery at Maine med where they had to take out a piece of his spine. He has permanent nerve damage, spinal com...

IMPORTANT: It has come to our attention that there is another page that is simply called "MRSA Foundation," which is impersonating us. We are not aware of how this happened, but we will be taking steps to get this page removed. It is NOT affiliated with our page, "MRSA Foundation, Inc." or our organization in any way, shape, or form.

If you own or manage the unofficial "MRSA Foundation" page, or have any information about who does, please contact us immediately using Facebook Messenger. We would greatly appreciate any help.

A few brief updates: 1) We have sent our second donation to Dr. Zhang's Lab at UCSD to help fund research on a potential MRSA cure. 2) A few tweaks and additions have been made to our website. 3) Our website now receives about 10,000 visits per month (not to mention the 750 likes here on Facebook), which is phenomenal for raising awareness about MRSA.

Hello All,

Wonderful news: the MRSA Foundation has chosen Dr. Zhang's Lab at UCSD's Jacobs School of BioEngineering as the recipient of our fundraising efforts.

Dr. Zhang has worked tirelessly to engineer a "biosponge" capable of eliminating MRSA at the most micro of levels. The technology is cutting edge, the research is sound, and, above all, Dr. Zhang is an ethical man who is concerned with science, not money.

The MRSA Foundation has just remitted its first donation, for which the Jacob's School is paving a stone in MRSA Foundation's honor. Furthermore, a fund will be started in the MRSA Foundation's name and our supporters can donate directly to the UCSD fund hereafter (cutting down on processing costs and administrative fees), if they desire.

We are proud and excited to be a part of this potential cure, and we will post more information as it becomes available, including pictures of the MRSA Foundation's donor stone, how to donate to MRSA Foundation's UCSD fund, and more information about Dr. Zhang's research.

Thank you to all our supporters!

Sincerely,
Chris Dickson

We are very proud to announce that FINALLY our website, http://mrsafoundation.com, is back online!

We have appreciated all the support and participation we received here on Facebook while our website was going through a rough transition phase.

A few notes about the new website:

1.) Please feel free to post your MRSA story below in the comments, and we will include it on the website (over 200 words please).

2.) You may notice that we are no longer asking for online donations. Currently we have stockpiled some money from previous donations and do not have an ideal research institution to donate the funds to, yet. Thus, we do not want to keep collecting money simply for the sake of collecting money. Once we have a clear institution in mind, we will resume online donations. We value your money and donations and want to be of the highest ethics.

3.) We now have a products page where we feature products that we DO NOT ENDORSE, but have heard some good things about via second-hand reports. Not all products we hear about will be featured, and we DO NOT RECEIVE anything from the purchase of these products, so please explore with no pressure to buy.

Once again, thank you for all your support, and look forward to a wonderful year for MRSA awareness in 2015.

We are glad you took time to visit our website. Our goal is to increase awareness, funding, and preventative care for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). If you have been following this disease or have been affected by it, you are already aware of the severity of it. Although MRSA ma…

Some news for our 577 loyal Facebook Fans:

A) We apologize for our website's disappearance! Our prior web-host deleted our account since we were using too much bandwidth. Although we have since switched to Go Daddy, we have been scrambling to rebuild the deleted website itself. Since we have failed to do this on our own, we will be meeting with a web developer on Tuesday, marking the next step to getting things up and running again.

B) Because of the importance of disseminating information online, we have also procured a volunteer Chief Technical Officer, Eric Dickson, to help with the day-to-day management of our various awareness raising tools. As soon as the new website is up, Eric will make sure things stay updated, topical, and fully functioning.

C) As previously mentioned, our co-founder, Chris, has appeared in one part of a multi-part documentary on hospital acquired infections. The part of the documentary featuring him, which discusses MRSA, will debut on our new website pending its launch, and it will also be mirrored here, once we obtain permission from the director.

D) Hailey Smith, a high-school senior--now graduate--organized a 5K "Run for the Cure" for her class project in Pennsylvania. MRSA Foundation provided the shirts for the race, and all proceeds were donated to us--grossing over $1,900. A big thanks to Hailey for her hard work and dedication.

E) We are beginning the early stages of another fundraising project with a group that is trying to get approval through the CDC for a formula which has proven effective at killing MRSA bacteria!
