Idaneo Montes

Obituary for Idaneo Montes English

Idaneo Montes, age 84, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026. He was born on August 24, 1941, in Jalpan, Querétaro, Mexico, to Abdon Montes and Atanacia Resendiz, both of whom preceded him in death.

Idaneo grew up in Mexico, where he developed a strong work ethic that carried him throughout his life. He worked as a cab driver in Mexico before later moving to Dallas, where he was known as a dedicated butcher. Through his work and daily life, he earned the respect of those around him for his reliability and commitment.

A man of faith, Idaneo was a devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He found joy in simple pleasures, especially working on puzzles and tending to his garden. He also took great pride in his personal appearance, a trait fondly remembered by his loved ones.

One cherished memory perfectly captures his sense of humor and personality. While preparing to attend a Christmas event for the store where he worked, Idaneo and his friend Luis decided to color their mustaches with mascara to hide the gray hairs beginning to show. As they happily ate and drank, they noticed black stains on their napkins and wondered what had happened—only to suddenly remember the mascara. Laughter followed as they realized the color had smudged around their mouths, leaving them both comically marked for the evening. It is memories like these that will forever bring smiles to those who knew him.

On July 12, 1969, Idaneo married the love of his life, Ofelia Medina. Together they built a life centered on family, love, and perseverance.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Ofelia Medina; his children, Rocio Montes, Juan Montes, Ofelia Montes, Melina Montes, and Jesus Montes; and his grandchildren, Josue Montes, Danielle Rodriguez, Osiel Montes, Dylan Diaz, Delilah Diaz, Melanie Montes, and Dario Montes. He is also survived by his brothers, Gabriel Montes, Maximino Montes, and Hipolito Chavez, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

In addition to his parents, Idaneo was preceded in death by his siblings Casildo Montes, Ignacio Montes, Leonarda Montes, Taurino Montes, and Gilberto Montes.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to The Villa at Mountain View, Jesse Cuellar, Jose and Blanca Montes, Tiburcio and Norma Trujillo, and their children. Thank you all for your companionship, care, and support during his final days.

Idaneo Montes will be remembered as a hardworking man, a loving husband and father, a proud grandfather, and a person who brought warmth and laughter to those around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mary Frances Cooksey

Mary Frances Cooksey, age 94, passed away on February 7th, 2026, peacefully in her home. She was a beloved wife, mother, and 4 generation grandmother.

Mary lost her husband after 23 years of marriage, however together they had five children: (son)Jereld Cooksey, (daughter) Caroline Thompson, (daughter) Gail Butler, (daughter) Martha Thompson, and (daughter) Christine Vasquez. They blessed her with 18 grandchildren, 38 great‑grandchildren, 25 great‑great‑grandchildren and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.

Mary’s life was defined by her devotion to family, her strong work ethic, and her unwavering dedication to those around her. She began her career in 1962 at Farine Elementary School, where she served faithfully in the cafeteria for many years. In 1984, Mary expanded her commitment to serving others by taking on an additional position at Baylor Hospital, working afternoon shifts in the cafeteria. Through both roles, she touched countless lives with her kindness, dependability, and quiet strength

After 34 years of dedicated service to Farine Elementary, Mary retired in 1996. Her strong work ethic and commitment to serving others continued, and she remained at Baylor Hospital until 2013, retiring at the age of 82. Mary would have gladly continued her work beyond that age, but she was encouraged to retire. Even with her demanding schedule, Mary always found joy in the things she loved.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, going to church, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with her family. However, her greatest passion was collecting dolls. At one point, Mary owned over 150 dolls and could tell you exactly where each one came from or how she had acquired it.

Mary’s strength, warmth, and devotion to those she loved will forever be cherished.

We would like to request that you join us at the reception to share your stories about Mary.
