Suresh R. Thani, MD, FACOG, FACS
Former Chairman, Department of OB/GYN, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Specializing in advanced gynecology, gynecologic surgery, infertility and robotic surgery, Dr Thani performs a wide range of robotic procedures from hysterectomy uterine-preserving myomectomy to tubal ligation reversals and salpingostomy using the da Vinci® Surgical System. Dr. Thani has been performing major gynecological procedures for more than 30 years. He was the first gynecologist to perform robotic gynecological surgery and the first one to do the Tubal-reversal surgery which was successful in New Jersey. He also goes to other states to proctor robotic surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of West Indies in Mona, Jamaica. Formerly associated with the University of London, Dr. Thani completed his residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. He is a recipient of the CREOG award for resident teaching. Dr. Suresh R. Thani name was in the list of “ Top 100 doctors of United States in 2010”. A Fellow of the American College of OB/GYN, Fellow American College of Surgeons, Dr. Thani is a member of the Minimally Invasive Robotic Association, the American Association of Gyn Laparoscopists and the American Urogynecologic Society. Dr. Thani is also a member of the International Organization For Women and Development. He was part of the 2004 fistula missionary group to Niger.
