Therapy Thursday Thoughts

Studies show rotator cuff tears are common in people without shoulder pain, especially as we age, meaning the tear itself is not always the cause of symptoms. A physical therapist can help guide you. Source: Systematic review, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (Minagawa et al., 2013).

If you are dealing with persistent aches, recovering from an injury, or trying to stay strong as you age, vitamin D might come up in conversation. Many people think of it as an “immune vitamin” or something related only to bone health.

🚨 ACL injuries are NOT bad luck.

When elite athletes tear their ACL on the world stage, it reminds everyone of one hard truth:

ACL injuries can happen to anyone.

But here’s what most people don’t know 👇

✔ Most ACL tears are NON-CONTACT
✔ They happen during landing, cutting, and stopping
✔ And research shows up to 70% are preventable with the right training

Yet when we talk to athletes in our community, we hear the same thing:
👉 “I didn’t know it was preventable! I thought it was just BAD luck!”

And that’s what we’re changing at King Physical Therapy.

We don’t just rehab ACL injuries —
we teach athletes how to move, train/strengthen, and compete in ways that protect their knees.

If you’re an athlete, parent, or coach:
WE CAN HELP!

Prevention starts with education.
Look for more coming soon. 👀

✨ MEET DOCTOR TIM ✨

Please help us welcome Doctor of Physical Therapy, Dr. Tim Harris to the King Physical Therapy team! Dr. Tim is now accepting appointments 5 days per week at our Harrison City location, and we’re excited for our community to get to know him.

Dr. Tim brings a strong background in orthopedic physical therapy, sports performance, and strength & conditioning. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Chatham University and holds his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification. His clinical experience includes evaluating and treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, helping patients move efficiently, safely, and with confidence.

What makes Dr. Tim especially relatable to runners and athletes is that he doesn’t just treat them — he is one. After recently completing the Baltimore Marathon this fall 🏃‍♂️, Dr. Tim understands firsthand the training demands, injury risks, and mindset required for endurance sports. He brings that personal experience, passion, and insight into how he evaluates, treats, and programs care for athletes working toward performance and recovery goals.

Dr. Tim aligns closely with the King Physical Therapy philosophy of intentional, one-on-one care. He values building strong relationships with patients, educating them throughout the rehab process, and creating individualized plans that support both recovery and long-term movement health.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Tim enjoys working out, running, reading, and spending time with friends — bringing the same dedication and positive energy into every patient interaction.

Thursday Therapy Thoughts

Multiple studies show arthritis severity on imaging does not strongly predict pain or function, which explains why some people with severe arthritis feel fine while others with mild changes struggle. Why It Works Wednesday

When pain, surgery, or medical recovery limits endurance, your physical therapist helps guide a gradual return to movement based on symptom response.
✅ Tip: Progression is based on tolerance, not fitness targets.
