Therapy Thursday Thoughts

Pain is influenced by many factors beyond tissue damage, including how the nervous system responds to movement, which is why pain levels don’t always match what’s happening structurally. A physical therapist can help guide you.

Most people think rehab means bands, stretching, and easy exercises.

But returning to sport requires training for sport.

Late-stage rehab should look like this 👇

✔ Strength that protects the knee
✔ Plyometrics that prepare the body for landing
✔ Agility that challenges cutting and change of direction
✔ Sprint mechanics and power development

Research consistently shows that athletes need high levels of strength, power, and neuromuscular control before safely returning to sport.

That’s why the final phase of rehab at King Physical Therapy should feel like training.

Because if rehab doesn’t prepare you for sport…
sport will expose it.

This is what return-to-play rehab looks like at King PT.

💙 MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY 💪

At King Physical Therapy, we don’t just prescribe movement…

We live it.

Recently Doctors of Physical Therapy,  Dr. Shelby, Dr. Capri, Dr. Brittany, and our Doctor of Physical Therapy Intern, Alexa, stepped outside the clinic and into the community for a class at MotiveFit — and let’s just say… we were challenged in the best way.

Because here’s the truth:
✔️ Exercise is medicine

✔️ Strength training protects your joints

✔️ Muscle mass is one of the strongest predictors of long-term health

✔️ The human body was built to move

As physical therapists, we coach proper loading, progressive strength, mobility, and recovery every day. But it’s just as important that we hold ourselves to that same standard.

If we’re asking our patients to show up and do hard things —
we better be doing them too.

Huge thank you to the team at MotiveFit for the incredible class, expert coaching, and welcoming environment. We love supporting local businesses that are raising the standard for health and fitness in our community.

Stronger clinicians → Better care → Stronger community.

🚨 Female athletes are 6–8x more likely to tear their ACL.

🚨 Up to 70% of ACL injuries are preventable.

The problem?

At King Physical Therapy, we treat ACL injuries every week.

And we hear the same thing over and over:

“No one ever showed me how to prevent this.”

Why It Works Wednesday

Pain, stiffness, or deconditioning can change how people move during activity. Your physical therapist assesses patterns to guide care focused on comfort and tolerance.
✅ Tip: The goal is easier movement, not perfect form.

Ankle Pain - Dollars & Sense Treatment

Did you know that 90% of patients with ankle problems never get the one treatment proven to prevent re-injury? In this month's video, we share why physical therapy should be your first call, not your last resort, and how it could save you thousands compared to the ER or surgery.
