SRPS has some open positions at this time. We are in need of a part-time PTA for home care, and will be needing a full-time PT for outpatient by year end. We also are looking to help a couple of clients who are requesting some additional OT and ST time that could be filled by contingent to part-time help. Great turnout of around 50 staff and family for Wendi and Barb’s retirement happy hour at the UP Brewing Company. Barb’s already got some big camping plans and Wendi’s still going to be busy but get more time at home on the beach. These ladies have been a big part of our success taking care of the office and staff needs and will be missed!

We have a client that is looking for a full-time nurse (LPN or RN) to be with a medically at risk student in a school setting. This is a new position to help with the growth that clinic has had that required us to open a second location. Ideally the person would have great general skills and an interest in developing a sub-specialty.

Innovative Therapy, a division of Superior Rehabilitation & Professional Services, is pleased to announce that we have therapeutic massage services available for in-home or in collaboration with the new Active Physical Therapy clinic on Division Street downtown Ishpeming.

This service is intended for people who have recently graduated from physical therapy or have ongoing muscular issues where therapeutic massage would provide additional benefit for healing and increasing function. This service is not for people looking for a relaxation massage typically seen in area wellness spas, and would be more equivalent to ‘deep tissue massage’. Pricing for this service is very affordable at $70 for one hour and $100 for 90 minutes in either home or at the Active PT facility. Home based services are only available along the Marquette to Ishpeming highway corridor. Jordan Jarvi, PTA and licensed massage therapist will be primarily providing the service.

Superior Rehab is pleased to announce that we have created a new division of our company to provide private pay therapy services to clients in Marquette County. Innovative Therapy's website went live recently and describes what service we can provide, and how Private Pay services work. We have been working on this project for about a year and excited to launch as we have had many people ask us about private services. We're hopeful that this service can fill a need for people who don't have insurance or insurance that covers therapy, High deductible / high copay insurance plans, or just want more control over their healthcare dollars. There are a number of private pay physician practices in our community and that number will grow. We hope to be a useful part of this parallel healthcare system that is developing alongside the insurance based system. Oh, and we also can provide therapeutic massage by licensed massage therapist who also happens to be a physical therapist assistant RIGHT IN YOUR HOME using portable equipment!

May 18th is National Speech-Language Pathologist Day! It's also Better Speech and Hearing Month. SLP's are the bedrock of many special education programs in schools, provide very important rehabilitation services to help restore communication to a variety of illness and injuries such as stroke patients or people with traumatic brain injury. They also help people with swallowing disorders relearn how to swallow in many cases and a lot more. It's a great day today to thank a speech-language pathologist!
