I've heard many people say that they had measles when they were younger and they were just fine and I absolutely believe them. I have many family members that did get measles. No one is saying that measles is going to kill everyone. What we know about measles is that it is highly infectious, requiring a higher level of care than conditions like the cold or the common flu and it is particularly dangerous for infants. Yes, you might've had measles when you were 10 years old back in 1962, but you were 10. I'm concerned about a six month old being exposed to it now and someone losing their child. The vaccine is safe and effective and I encourage all of my patients to get this important vaccination.

I learned about this fantastic Spotify station on the news today, at least 50% of the royalties from being played on Spotify go towards nonprofit conservation efforts. Thanks Dr Marit Zimmerman - the treatment was painless and I'm super excited to see results! I spent a lot of time in my 20s on tropical beaches without sunscreen so it's about time I started taking care of my skin!

What a fantastic day at the lacrosse tournament! I am so grateful to the volunteers who came to support our student athletes. I was blown away by these student (and recent graduate!) clinicians and honored to hold space for them. I say "hold space" because while technically I acted as a supervisor I feel that's an overstatement-they really knew their stuff! Thanks again yall!

I try to stay out of politics as much as I can professionally, but politics can legislate Medicine in a way that's grossly inappropriate. I prescribe birth control regularly for women to prevent pregnancy, who have endometriosis, who have polycystic ovarian syndrome, who have PMDD, who have fibroids, for perimenopause etc. There are so many reasons beyond pregnancy prevention for the use of birth control, and it should be a civil right to have access to it. There's no other first world country that has even a question about access to these medications. Had I not personally had access to these medication's I would've bled to death from uterine fibroids. At one point, I was so grossly anemic that I needed a blood transfusion due to heavy uterine bleeding. I don't care what party the person is, but I do care how they vote and access to Medicine like this should not be a partisan issue.

Does your doctor check Lp(a)? People with this elevated genetic factor are at greater risk of cardiovascular disease and now we know, kidney disease as well! It's important to get checked at least once, even if your insurance doesn't cover it. While we don't have any treatments for high Lp(a), I have seen it improve as we improve overall health and knowing you have high Lp(a ) means we know we need to keep your LDL (and ApoB) nice and low!

I don't know if y'all have heard about brining your chicken in pickle juice, but I tried it for the first time tonight and it is for real! Possibly the best chicken I have ever had! I used the brine from Grillo's pickles and soaked the drumsticks overnight. Using a homemade gluten-free batter I coated the clicker baked it in olive oil. It's a new family favorite, there will be no leftovers tonight! Sometimes cooking gluten-free can seem really complicated and sometimes it is super easy. This was a super easy recipe for the win!
