Tompkins Community Action Head Start has had a classroom in the Longview building for over 20 years, and each year we host the Giving Tree for the students and their families. This year we were able to provide 70 gifts, 22 meals and 11 Wegman's gift cards to the 11 families in the Head Start class.

Every year we put the ornaments on the tree with options for volunteers to participate in purchasing gifts or items for the food baskets and every year we are all overwhelmed with the amount of generosity and kindness that is shown to our Head Start families.

Since its opening in 1974, Longview has grown to become one of the most trusted residential senior facilities in the area. Its designed to provide an active, enriching and healthful life for older adults who wish to live independently in a community setting.

With 100 independent living apartments, 60 assisted living and 32 enhanced assisted living rooms, plus 22 patio homes inclusive of two bedrooms, garage, patio, kitchen and more, there is something for everyone.

Residents of Longview enjoy the use of the greenhouse, library, auditorium, nature trails, a swimming pool, an exercise room plus much more. Amenities include dining, maintenance, housekeeping, snow removal and mowing services.

The unique intergenerational partnership with Ithaca College allows students and seniors to develop relationships on-site, seniors to take classes at IC and use of on-campus facilities, and many more perks.
