What is Folic Acid and why is it important?
Folic Acid is an important B vitamin that helps the body make healthy new cells. During Pregnancy Folic Acid is extra important because it helps to prevent major birth defects in a developing baby’s spine and brain.
In addition to taking a prenatal vitamin, try eating more foods with folic acid such as:
🥬 Leafy green vegetables
🍑 Fresh, frozen, and canned fruits
🫘Dried or canned beans, fresh or frozen peas, and nuts
🍞Enriched breads, cereals, and other whole grain products
